As a leader and maker, you’ll be asked to handle a variety of responsibilities, including:Strategy & Planning
Collaborating with technology, product, and business teams to uncover customer and business needs - then translating them into transformative, intuitive, user friendly, and on-brand interfacesLeading in translating complex ideas into understandable concepts that evolve and enhance the product interfaceEngaging in portfolio prioritization to help set the strategy for the teamManaging through shifting priorities to provide clear direction and input on product definitionAdvocating for the customer through human centered design methodologies, including: discovery, ideation, sketch sessions, and user testingCreating and facilitating design led workshops to engage and build alignment across different partners and teamsChampioning prioritization of design centered product enhancements grounded in research and analysisConnecting with design community peers by learning, sharing, and teachingLead & Develop Teams
Building and leading successful teams by mentoring, coaching, and elevating othersGuiding team members in strategy, research, alignment, analysis, and execution tasksLeading your team through career development plans to encourage talent growthParticipate in hiring by reviewing resumes, conducting interviews and attending consensusDiscovery & Delivery
Supporting early product definition by working with partners to facilitate discovery sessions that uncover customer pain points and opportunitiesDemonstrating familiarity with design tools to deliver concepts and enable successful collaboration across teamsStorytelling — evangelizing the value of a systems-mindset, influencing partner adoption and making it easy to realize business impactCreating style guides, iconography, and infographics that can be leveraged by teamsDrive end-to-end product design by:Working with researchers to understand customer needs and interpreting information into visual forms that are impactful and intuitiveFraming problems, determining insights, and defining visual designs to serve customer needsWorking within an established design systemIdeating, sketching, and delivering low to high fidelity prototypesDesigning within existing - and creating new - standards to contribute to our internal design system, best practices, and guidelinesStorytelling and presenting visual concepts to various stakeholdersCreating high fidelity design assets for acceptance, development, and delivery to market in partnership with technology colleaguesBasic Qualifications
At least 8 years of experience with user interface and user experience designPreferred Qualifications
Bachelors or advanced Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Design, Behavioral ScienceExperience managing a cross-functional teamExperience designing for cross channel experiencesExperience working within a large Enterprise environment and collaborating with a cross-functional teamExperience with design and prototyping tools, particularly FigmaExperience working within an established design systemAt this time, Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $199,100 - $227,200 for Sr. Manager, DesignCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
