Driven by our mission to advance quality and equity in education, ETS provides learning solutions, pioneering research, and trusted assessments that help guide learners around the world on their path to new possibilities.The Executive Director of Learning Design will lead the strategy for how ETS develops learning and assessment solutions in the K16 Business Unit. The Executive Director will lead a team of learning scientists, instructional designers, user experience research, and design professionals working across cross-functional K16 teams to design evidence-based, impactful learning experiences that are efficient, effective, equitable, and tailored to target user needs.Successful candidates will have demonstrated experience in:Developing and executing strategy and leading individual contributors in cross-functional teams for educational technology learning solution development.Engaging in user-centered design.Synthesizing and applying relevant learning and measurement science foundational research in the design of learning experiences.Conceptualizing and creating innovative and evidence-based AI capabilities.Collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders and consultants to ensure on-time completion of project goals.Key Responsibilities:Drive product development learning science and design strategy and provide mentorship and guidance to team members.Develop and execute the strategy for articulating intended learning outcomes and establishing relevant research foundations and design principles.Engage with users of target market segments to conduct needs assessments and ongoing testing throughout the product development lifecycle.Collaborate with team and stakeholders to articulate product requirements and drive on-time delivery of product offerings.Ensure foundational documentation supports solution content strategy and design.Collaborate with AI engineers to conceptualize insights from affective, behavioral, and cognitive data.Drive learning science perspective to inform capabilities and support research agendas.Stay up to date with emerging research methods and trends in learning science and design.Adhere to ethical standards and comply with applicable laws and regulations.Minimum Requirements:A doctoral degree in learning or cognitive science, assessment and measurement, instructional design, education, educational psychology, or related area.At least 5 years of professional experience in leadership.10+ years in applied learning science and design within educational technology product development.Skills:Strong oral and written communication skills.Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Well-developed organizational skills and program management experience.Strong technical skills and willingness to learn new technology.ETS believes in a Total Rewards philosophy for our employees, which includes:Health, Vision, Dental insurance plans, generous continuous learning support, PTO, retirement plans, and additional benefits.ETS is mission-driven and action-oriented.Diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging are at the forefront of ETS's daily work, fostering an inclusive environment through various Affinity groups.ETS is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
