Position description
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) is accepting applications for a tenure track position at all ranks (Assistant, Associate and Full Professor level) in the area of Computer Systems and Architecture. The Department has particular interest in applicants with traditional Computer Architecture background and secondary expertise in one of the emerging areas such as application-specific architectures including neuromorphic and bioinformatics computing, alternative computing based on novel devices and circuits, architectures for hardware security.
The department is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through research, teaching, and service. In 2024-25, a wide array of UC Santa Barbara departments are partnering with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to launch a special faculty recruitment initiative named after Benjamin Banneker. Funded by an Advancing Faculty Diversity grant from the UC Office of the President, the Banneker Initiative aims to recruit scholars whose work aligns with Banneker's intellectual, ethical, and social commitments. Applicants may be eligible to be fellows in the Benjamin Banneker Initiative.
The University of California, Santa Barbara is a leading research institution nestled on California's beautiful Central Coast, with the ECE building located adjacent to the beach. The greater Santa Barbara area is a great place to raise a family and is within driving distance to Los Angeles.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications
(required at time of application)Applicants must have completed all requirements for a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related field except the dissertation at the time of application.
Additional qualifications
(required at time of start)Ph.D. required by time of appointment.
Preferred qualificationsCandidates should have an established research reputation or outstanding research potential, the ability to attract external research funding, and a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels.
