Our company values a strong collaborative team environment and strives for superior customer service both internally and externally.Job DescriptionWe are currently seeking an experienced Chief Estimator for our Construction and Major Projects delivery groups. This role holds responsibility for providing complete, detailed, thorough, and accurate estimates on major project pursuits. Specific duties include performing site surveys to evaluate mechanical, plumbing, and electrical systems for developing budgets and bid estimates, obtaining material/ equipment and subcontractor bids, maintaining opportunity report logs, reading plans and specifications, coordinating project turnovers to operations.Duties and Responsibilities:Act as a key stakeholder in risk-management and assessment on new project pursuits.Lead, manage, mentor, train, and develop responsibilities for all estimators within the organization.Responsible for the complete assembly of all estimates on projects assigned to you, for various trades, from the time that plans and specs are issued to proposal submission.Monitor and provide leadership for major change-order development within Operations.Solicit subcontractor and vendor quotations to ensure coverage on all scopes of work.Review all construction documents including instructions to bidders, scope of work, and general conditions.Distribute plans, specifications, and addenda to subcontractors and vendors via company ftp website and/or email.Assist in development of Go/No-Go and bid-to-win strategies.Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits which may result in travel time on occasions.Lead, coordinate, and manage assembly of detailed estimates by reviewing take-off and pricing for completeness on all self-performed work.Review subcontractor and vendor quotations for compliance with plans and specifications, and Client discussions/meetings.Develop scope of work for proposals.Assist in negotiating subcontracts and procurement of materials and equipment.Support the Executive responsible for oversight of Preconstruction Team by entering setup estimates into our ERP, manage and lead Baselining initiatives with Operations, and lead the turnover/transition/Baselining process with operations.Provide budgets, estimates, construction schedules, and manpower projections.Be a self-starter, able to multi-task, work with minimal supervision, show attention to detail and demonstrate problem-solving skills.Perform other duties as assigned.Requirements and Qualifications:8+ years’ experience in commercial and/or industrial construction projects or equivalent combination of education and experience.8+ years’ Estimating/Pre-Construction experience.Demonstrate knowledge and efficiency in computer/network based estimating software (i.e. Autobid, FastEST Suite, TSI, Estimation, or equal).Advanced knowledge of all self-performed disciplines, estimating techniques and cost control.Experience in interpretation of project cost reporting, ERP systems, cost-coding, and project phasing.Understanding and capable of construction assemblies.Strong background in conceptual estimating is a plus.Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.Must be able to meet critical deadlines.Must be able to pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen, and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks as required (i.e. DMV, criminal history).Must adhere to all company policy and procedures.Must be available to work assigned schedules.Work Environment:Works in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.Position will require visits to construction and industrial work sites.Physical Demands:Site visits will require walking through existing buildings, industrial plants and/or on-going construction sites. This will involve stairs and at times ladders on multiple floors/levels.Preferred:Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Engineering, Construction Management or other related discipline.Benefits:Comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision and life insurance.
