Job Summary:
The National Director of Merchandising is responsible for leading merchandising efforts by shaping product offerings, optimizing assortments, and ensuring collections align with market trends and customer needs. This role will also oversee strategic planning, team leadership, inventory management, and cross-functional collaboration.
Key Responsibilities :
Strategy & Planning : Develop and implement comprehensive merchandising strategies that align with both long-term company goals and emerging market trends, ensuring a competitive edge.
Product Development : Lead the creation, curation, and refinement of product assortments, ensuring that development stays on schedule and meets release timelines.
Sales & Performance : Continuously analyze sales data to refine merchandising strategies and improve profitability while adapting to market demands.
Team Leadership : Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to ensure the merchandising team performs at a high level.
Cross-Functional Collaboration : Facilitate communication between design, marketing, and sales teams to ensure seamless product launches that are aligned with strategic objectives.
Process & SOPs : Develop and streamline Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all processes, from product development to quality control and final sales.
Inventory Management : Optimize stock allocation and turnover by managing inventory levels, addressing supply and demand imbalances, and identifying opportunities for process improvement.
Vendor Relations : Negotiate with vendors to ensure high-quality product sourcing at lower costs, helping to reduce Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) and drive profitability.
Qualifications :
Minimum 7 years in merchandising or a related field, with demonstrated leadership experience in the apparel industry, driving successful product lines and team management.
Strong operational skills with a focus on effective process management and optimization.
Strong team management skills, capable of leading a diverse team and fostering a high-performance environment.
Financial Acumen: Experienced in developing and presenting forecasts to executive leadership.
Proficiency in merchandising tools and inventory management systems, ensuring efficient product lifecycle management.
Creativity and innovation, with a keen eye for emerging fashion trends and a strategic approach to product development.
