About Salesforce
We’re Salesforce, the Customer Company, inspiring the future of business with AI + Data + CRM. Leading with our core values, we help companies across every industry blaze new trails and connect with customers in a whole new way. And, we empower you to be a Trailblazer, too — driving your performance and career growth, charting new paths, and improving the state of the world. If you believe in business as the greatest platform for change and in companies doing well and doing good – you’ve come to the right place.
Salesforce is looking for a Lead Software Engineer/DevOps to build and manage multi-substrate Kubernetes and microservices platform which powers Core CRM and a growing set of applications across Salesforce. This platform provides the ability to develop and deploy microservices quickly and efficiently, accelerating their path to production.
We run one of the largest Kubernetes fleets in the industry, and our team provides Kubernetes platform-as-a-service to other teams and centralized SRE/DevOps functionality to drive trust, availability, and resiliency improvements for our K8s platform. Our team specializes in k8s, Terraform, Spinnaker, and open-source stack technologies to support and solve operational problems through code, and our mission is to empower service owners to focus on the unique value of their service without having to focus on infrastructure, increasing developer agility and decreasing operational costs and complexity.
In this role,
You are responsible for the high availability of a large fleet of 1000+ clusters running various technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, software load balancers, service mesh, Istio and so on. You’ll gain valuable experience troubleshooting real production issues which will expand your knowledge on the architecture of K8s ecosystem services and internals.
You will contribute code to drive improvement.
You will drive automation efforts in Python/Golang/Puppet/Jenkins to eliminate manual work with day-to-day operations.
You will drive improvements to CI/CD pipelines built on Terraform, Spinnaker, and Argo.
You will help improve the platform's visibility by implementing necessary monitoring and metrics with Prometheus, Grafana, and other monitoring frameworks.
You’ll implement self-healing mechanisms to proactively fix issues to reduce manual labor.
You will get a chance to improve your communication and collaboration skills working with various other Infrastructure teams across Salesforce.
You will interact with a highly innovative and creative team of developers and architects.
You will evaluate new technologies to solve problems as needed.
Job Requirements:
7+ years of experience in SRE/DevOps/Systems Engineering roles.
Experience operating large scale distributed systems, especially in cloud environments.
Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to learn new technologies in complex distributed systems.
Strong working experience with Linux Systems Administration. Good knowledge of Linux internals.
Strong working experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Container Orchestration, Service Mesh.
Good experience in scripting/programming languages: Python, GoLang, etc.
Good knowledge of Networking protocols and components: TCP/IP Stack, Switches, Routers, Load Balancers.
Experience in Observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, ElasticSearch, etc.
Experience in any of Puppet, Chef, Ansible or other DevOps tools.
Experience with AWS, Terraform, Spinnaker, ArgoCD.
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with a strong ability to work effectively in a team environment.
For California-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $165,600 to $265,200.
Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits. More details about our company benefits can be found at the following link:
