Overall Job Summary
This is a hands-on position that will work in many network-related aspects in multiple sites across the organization and multiple technology platforms. Strong Service Level Agreement (SLA) responsibilities and strict change control are synonymous with this role. The individual we seek enjoys handling complicated challenges of all sizes and finds reward in helping businesses make the most of their technology. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, independent, detail oriented and resourceful with impeccable communication and time management skills. They are a collaborative team player and has strong problem-solving skills.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Min 5%)
Participate in 24x7 on call rotations.
Collaborate with Sr. Engineers to implement architectures and standards throughout enterprise.
Understand and help manage monitoring and logging to maintain uptime throughout the environment to match SLA requirements.
Cross trains with team to learn new technologies.
Implement efficiencies to existing processes through automation and scripting.
Required Qualifications
Experience: 2 years’ experience in networking and/or telecommunications.
Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering. Any suitable combination of education and experience will be considered.
Professional Certifications: Technical Certification Network+, CCNA a plus.
Platform knowledge (UNIX, Linux, Windows): Linux a plus
Preferred knowledge, skills or abilities
Desired Network Skills
Demonstrated knowledge of network routing and switching fundamentals
Demonstrated knowledge of various network concepts such as Routing, Switching, VPN configuration, SDWan, WAN/LAN, Wan acceleration, Wifi
Understanding of a variety of Network related protocols such as ARP, BGP, OSPF, IPSec.
Automation & Scripting
Familiarity utilizing REST APIs
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code methodologies and tools (i.e. Terraform)
Proficient knowledge of common DevOps tools such as Git/Github, Jenkins, containers, etc.
Proficient Python programming skills with object-oriented design principles desired.
Other scripting and programming languages is a plus
Experience with Linux a plus
