The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth impacts lives every day. We are a leading non-profit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Sports and Recreation Director will lead the development and implementation of high-quality sports, aquatics and recreation programs at the Northpark YMCA. The ideal candidate must have a demonstrated track record of delivering high-quality youth programs, combined with the ability to manage the administrative components of a youth sports and aquatics program. Strong organizational and time management skills are necessary to ensure that the participants and families have an exceptional experience at the Y. Responsibilities include supervision and training of the program staff along with new and innovative ideas to grow and expand existing programs. The director will need to be available to work weekends, as this is when many of the games take place. Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture. Qualifications
Education & Certifications
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Recreation, Business Administration, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of previous sports management and team leadership, preferrably in a non-profit setting.
ASHI Basic Life Support (ASHI CPR Pro) and First Aid will be required.
Experience & Background
High energy, positive, “can-do” attitude, flexibility, teamwork, attention to detail and a high degree of initiative will help this candidate be successful.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
The ability to direct programs through leading both staff and volunteers, developing and monitoring budgets, developing and marketing programs and bringing enthusiasm and a passion for fundraising.
This leader will also need the ability to connect and relate with diverse groups of people at all levels of the organization.
Bilingual English/Spanish would be a plus.
Essential Functions
Youth Sports & Program Development:
Design and implement a comprehensive youth sports strategy that promotes skill development, healthy living, and positive competition.
Revamp existing programs based on assessment of community needs and program performance.
Manage program budgets and ensure that all sports activities are cost-effective and within budgetary constraints.
Aquatics Management
Oversee all aspects of the outdoor pool operations, including safety protocols, maintenance, and program development.
Ensure compliance with all local, state, and national regulations regarding aquatics safety and operations.
Develop and manage swim lesson programs, including scheduling, staffing, and curriculum development.
Staff Leadership & Development
Hire, train, and mentor sports and aquatics staff.
Create professional development opportunities for staff to enhance skills and promote career growth within the YMCA.
Foster a collaborative, supportive, and high-performance team environment.
Innovative Recreation Programs
Plan and launch non-traditional recreation activities such as E-Sports, family fun nights, YMCA Olympics, and a corporate cup program.
Evaluate the success of these programs and iterate based on participant feedback and strategic goals.
Collaborate with marketing and communications teams to promote programs and increase community engagement.
Community Engagement & Partnership
Actively engage with community leaders, schools, and other organizations to build partnerships that enhance program offerings and outreach.
Represent the YMCA in community events and initiatives to promote sports and recreation programs.

Compensation & Benefits
The YMCA of Metropolitan Fort Worth offers a competitive salary and benefits package for selected candidates. The yearly salary range for this position is $44,000 to $48,000 and will be commensurate with the selected candidate’s experience. The YMCA provides competitive health benefits, a well-rounded wellness program and 403-B Retirement fund paid fully at 12% of total salary each year. In addition to medical, dental and vision coverage, plus life and long-term disability insurance, a work-life balance program includes up to 288 hours of vacation & personal time. Free and discounted programs for your family are included.
