Archaeological Field Technician (On-call)About A-T-S:Applied Technology & Science (A-T-S) is a woman owned environmental and engineering consulting firm based in the heart of downtown San Francisco. A-T-S is an integrated consulting firm focused on water resources and infrastructure, natural resource management and geospatial technology development for public and private sector clients.Minimum Qualifications and Experience:Qualified candidates should possess, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or a related field and have completed an accredited archaeological field school or internship. A strong candidate will also have a minimum of 1 year of field experience (i.e., monitoring, survey, testing, and data recovery) and be physically fit and able to perform physically demanding tasks in adverse environmental conditions (i.e., extreme heat or cold). Candidates should also have good organizational skills, a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and willingness to learn and execute new tasks. Prior experience in California is desired.Job Description:Applied Technology & Science (A-T-S) is looking to increase our roster of on-call Archaeological Field Technicians for upcoming projects in the Bay Area of California (e.g. San Francisco, San Ramon, San Jose, etc.) Work in this region will primarily consist of archaeological monitoring and survey. A-T-S provides comprehensive environmental, engineering, and CRM services to private and government clients at the federal, state, and local levels in San Francisco and throughout the Bay Area.Reporting to the Senior Archaeologist, Archaeological Field Technicians are responsible for conducting archaeological monitoring, archaeological survey, identification of cultural resources, and site and isolate documentation. To this end, Archaeological Field Technicians are required to perform the following tasks in the field:Conduct archaeological monitoring.Conduct archaeological survey.Must be able to identify prehistoric and historic-period artifacts and features in the field.Record the locations of artifacts and features using a global positioning system (GPS) application.Survey 123 familiarity a plus.Complete field forms accurately and concisely.Work well with construction crews and other subcontractors on site.
