Harm Reduction Technical AdvisorDepartment of Health (DOH), Drug Surveillance and Misuse Prevention Office (ODSMP)Job Description:-Serve as lead for DOH's distribution of harm reduction supplies and collaborate with sister agencies and local stakeholders to improve access.-Serve as a liaison between drug checking programs and ODSMP.-Identify and recommend opportunities to improve overdose response capacity at the state and local level.-Serve as a subject matter expert regarding the health of people who use drugs (PWUD); identify and implement strategies to improve overdose prevention, harm reduction, and disease prevention programs relevant to PWUD.-Serve as ODSMP's main point-of contact for overdose fatality review teams, assist in translating local findings into actionable strategies, and provide technical assistance to local teams in identifying and implementing harm reduction recommendations.-Monitor emerging and promising practices related to harm reduction.-Review and analyze policies and bills related to harm reduction and overdose prevention and propose improvements.-Support ODSMP staff in the implementation of harm reduction and overdose prevention programs.Required and preferred qualifications:?5+ years professional and/or work experience in public policy, public health, overdose prevention, and/or harm reduction with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Pennsylvania.?Graduate degree in political science, public health, public policy, social work, or related field.?Understanding of the harm reduction, drug checking, and communicable disease prevention landscape in Pennsylvania; established connections with organizations in Pennsylvania required.?Excellent oral and written communication skills.?Strong interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to maintain partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.?Technical advising expertise, with the ability to engage stakeholders to determine current needs, identify policy implementation opportunities, deliver reports to relevant stakeholders, and create comprehensive strategies for implementation.?Familiarity with the philosophy and principles of harm reduction as it relates to PWUD.
