Acuity is seeking a Telecommunications Engineer to help manage the telecommunications hardware and software infrastructure for the entire organization, including but not limited to: local and long distance service, corporate cell phone program, VoIP, remote employee voice connectivity, call centers, unified messaging, business continuity, capacity and availability, and system maintenance. The Telecommunications Engineer also researches, designs, proposes, implements, and maintains the telecommunications network and services.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Ensures that the phone system operates efficiently and effectively and meets the needs of Acuity; implements enhancements to the system; oversees the servicing of the system.Installs, configures, and maintains hardware and software to support all communication needs of Acuity; both on-premises and cloud-based solutions.Strong understanding of telephony protocols and traditional telecommunications systems, with practical experience in their implementation and integrations.Coordinates and oversees troubleshooting of the phone system. Coordinates programming to route calls in the most efficient manner possible.Participates in the installation and maintenance of related operating systems and sub-systems.Develops and routinely tests telecommunication disaster/recovery plans.Performs ongoing capacity planning for related equipment and circuit utilization; assists in establishing budgetary recommendations.Delivers superior customer service focus and excellent communication skills to effectively correspond with all levels of employees.Administers cross connections, wiring, moves, adds, and changes.Researches and develops proposals on new products and services.Leads participation for all telecommunication contract and statement of work negotiations.Stays abreast of the changing landscape of telecommunications including but not limited to cell phones and plans, messaging options, and high-speed voice communication options (both internal and external).Reviews and approves all voice-related bills each month, researches and resolves any discrepancies in the bills while reconciling to the associated contract.Regular and predictable attendance.Performs other duties as assigned.EDUCATION:Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Computer Science, MIS or equivalent and continued field experience required.EXPERIENCE:Minimum 5 years of relevant work experience. Broad knowledge of the telecommunications industry and an ability to keep informed of trends and developments.OTHER QUALIFICATIONS:May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays as part of upgrades and an on-call rotation.Reside within a 2-hour radius of the Acuity Corporate Headquarters.*Acuity does not sponsor applicants for U.S. work authorization.*This job is classified as exempt.We are an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
