Full professional level in public relations occupation under general supervision responsible for managing publications, media relations, messaging, website/information services, marketing and public relations operations of all departments in Montgomery County Administrative Services; acts as department agent in transactions relating to media and promotion of department’s programs and activities.
Perform material and substantial duties of classification more than 50% of the time.Job Duties:Develop and implement strategies to produce and maintain positive image of the department; oversees public relations activities and identifies opportunities for strategic collaboration to improve department communications; oversees and/or writes promotional material/literature; establishes/maintains professional relationship with senior management of area radio, television stations and newspapers; arranges interviews and coaches respondents; provides interviews as spokesperson; writes and edits news releases and/or other media documents.Coordinates production of department newsletters, annual reports, videos, public service announcements, advertising and other media; maintains office system to support goals of programs; responsible for planning, training and policy development in public relations areas; may participate in overall agency planning, training and procedure development as needed.(Performs Related Duties as Required)If Assigned to BCC Administrative Services:Class Concept:Full professional level in public relations occupation under general supervision responsible for managing publications, media relations, messaging, website/information services, marketing and public relations operations of all departments in Montgomery County Administrative Services, Human Resources and the Office of Management and Budget; acts as department agent in transactions relating to media and promotion of department’s programs and activities. Services as alternate Montgomery County PIO when the Emergency Management Agency is stood up.
Perform material and substantial duties of classification more than 70% of the time.Job Duties:Develop and implement strategies to produce and maintain positive image of supported departments in professional community and community-at-large; oversee public relations activities and identify opportunities for strategic collaboration to improve department communications; oversee and/or write promotional material/literature; establish/maintain professional relationship with senior management of area radio, television stations and newspapers; arrange interviews and coach respondents, and provide interviews as spokesperson; and supervise writing, editing and follow-up on news releases and/or other media documents.Oversee activity/development of community partnership projects; coordinate production of department newsletters, annual reports, video tapes, public service announcements, advertising and other literature; maintain office system to support goals of programs; responsible for planning, training and policy development in public relations areas; may participate in overall agency planning, training and procedure development as needed.Stay proficient in FEMA and MCEMA training and coursework and be proficient in CodeRED emergency messaging. either
four (4) years of experience in government operations, communications strategic planning and multimedia presentation techniques
or
three (3) years of management experience in government operations, communications strategic planning and multimedia presentation techniques; OR alternative, equivalent evidence of the Minimum Class Requirements.Must provide writing and visual samples for interview. Moderate to expert knowledge of Adobe Create Cloud Suite preferred.
