We’re a high-growth, venture-backed startup based in NYC and are actively scaling our company.About the Role & What You’ll Be DoingAs an Alaffia Health Senior Backend Engineer (TypeScript Services), you'll become an integral part of our forward-thinking backend API development team. In this role, you'll contribute to the evolution of automated healthcare payment processing, collaborating with passionate engineers dedicated to delivering cutting-edge software solutions. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of our platform while making a meaningful impact on the efficiency and accuracy of healthcare payments nationwide.Your ResponsibilitiesWrite production-level backend services in TypeScriptUse technologies like GraphQL and PostgreSQL to create flexible, performant APIsBuild end-to-end services leveraging data science techniquesDevelop engineering solutions to identify improper charges and patterns of fraud, waste, and abuse in healthcare paymentsEngage in infrastructural and architectural decisions to support real-time updates and platform scalabilityCollaborate with backend and machine learning engineers to implement new APIs and servicesWork closely with the Auditing team to incorporate expertise into web app features and core technology developmentArchitect and rearchitect new and existing patterns to support the evolving Alaffia ecosystemWhat We’re Looking For6-10 years of experience in a backend service development roleProficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, NodeJS, and ExpressJSExperience with GraphQL and PostgreSQLExperience with Jest or VitestSelf-starter with experience leading small teamsDeep database knowledge and data storage optimization knowledge using Postgres or similarExperience developing and deploying production-level APIs and ServicesFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps teamsAbility to translate application requirements into API specifications and data modelsFamiliarity with logging technologies and debugging production applicationsFamiliarity with AWS or similar cloud providersArchitectural design experience and data model design experienceExperience with Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, GitHub, CI/CD using GitHub ActionsOur CultureAt Alaffia, we fundamentally believe that the whole is more valuable than the sum of its individual parts.
