Artemis EVA Systems Manager

will:Support the HLS SEI Surface Mission Segment Lead and the CrewCo Technical Integration Manager(s)Serve as subject matter hardware expert for HLS vehicle EVA equipment and interface requirements; support requirements, design, safety, and flight readiness reviews. Review designs and verifications of EVA equipment and interfaces to ensure vehicle operability. Verify hazards are controlled and fault-tolerance is achieved. Identify and report risks and mitigation options to the program.Lead teams of engineers and technicians in conducting engineering insight activities for vehicle EVA equipment and interfaces.Conduct design assessments and determine if extravehicular activity (EVA) mission requirements have been met. Identify and analyze gaps between EVA systems and other mission systems. Support HLS program decisions to resolve conflicts involving the EVA System.Provide subject matter expertise and coordination with subject matter experts for EVA equipment and interfaces at vehicle milestone reviews and on an as-needed basis.Support program and provider meetings, vehicle provider testing for key EVA verifications, and integrated testing in conjunction with the EVAS provider/insight team.Serve as the HLS POC for joint verifications involving the use of EHP hardware in the HLS vehicle (including flowing HLS requirement to the Chamber B build-up).Serve as Technical Point of Contact Stakeholder as appropriate for DVO/VE reviews.Serve as the Crew Compartment representative to the HLS-EHP IPT and other related discussions and activities (pulling in POCs as needed within CrewCo, SVS, SEI).Serve as the Crew Compartment representative at the Joint Safety Review Panel and lead the joint hazard review activities pulling in POCs as needed within CrewCo, SVS, SEI.Requisition Qualifications:This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.Typically requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree in Engineering and normally possess 5 - 10 years of related experience. License and certification may be required.Strong knowledge of extravehicular activity and space suits and the ability to use lessons learned from historical EVA and vehicle systems.Background in systems engineering, project engineering, design engineering, or mission operations.Demonstrated history of understanding complex systems such as those under development for Artemis missions.Strong interpersonal and written communication skills such as speaking with and presenting to NASA programs, control boards, suit vendor teams, and vehicle vendor teams.Strong history of reviewing technical documentation and providing meaningful feedback.Requisition Preferences:The candidate will have demonstrated the ability to work independently to identify issues, prioritize responsibilities, and establish relationships with personnel on NASA teams, suit vendor teams, and vehicle vendor teams.5+ years of human spaceflight experience including 2+ years of direct experience with extravehicular activity equipment, extravehicular systems and/or space suits.Why Join Our Team?In addition to exciting career opportunities, we also have:Excellent personal and professional career growth.9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), when applicable.Proof of U.S. Citizenship or US Permanent Residency may be a requirement for this position.Must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.Management has the prerogative to select at any level for which the position is advertised.Essential FunctionsGenerally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.Physical RequirementsWork may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). (5% of time).Equipment and MachinesStandard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical.
