In this Senior Software Engineer role, you will lead and develop high performance backend services and systems for GM Commercial Services' new software solution. This role provides a unique opportunity where you will be working across all of the GM Commercial Services software products, and truly steering the future of GM Commercial Services’ system architecture, APIs, products, and customers. Design, build, and maintain scalable, reliable and performant services and systemsBuild and launch new capabilities and products that bring significant value to customers internal and externalUphold our high engineering standards, and elevate quality and engineering efficiency within our codebases and processesCollaborate with stakeholders across the organization including dependency engineering teams, product, design, infrastructure and operationsMentor engineers earlier in their technical career to help them growExplore new technologies and enrich our technological stackActively participate in technical discussions and deep dives with architectural group
Qualifications:
5+ years of hands-on backend software developmentExperience in building production-quality, highly performant and scalable distributed systems and Service-Oriented architectureWrite high quality production code that is tested thoroughly, supported by clear documentation and has appropriate production observabilityStrong CS fundamentals, including OO concepts, data structures, algorithms, and systems architectureSolid understanding and experience with NoSQL and relational DBEmpathy with users internal and external, and a strong customer focusHave effective collaboration and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
Strong product focus and acumen.Experience working independently and drive features or components throughout the development lifecycleExperience in one of the JVM languages Java / Scala / Kotlin + SpringBoot. Language can be learned and we care much more about your general engineering skill than knowledge of a particular language or frameworkExperience with at least one of the public cloud providers Azure, AWS, GCPExperience with IoT stack is a big plusBS/MS/PhD in Computer Science/Engineering preferred
Work Environment
This role is categorized as Hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report onsite three times per week at minimum.
Compensation
The annual salary range for this role is $152,100 - $232,900. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
Bonus Potential: An incentive pay program offers payouts based on company performance, job level, and individual performance.
