Data Center Technician I (SV8 Overnight Shift)

CoreSite's Data Center Technician I will assist in the operational integrity, security, and regulatory compliance of the assigned data center. Technicians will learn and gain experience through assisting more experienced data center technicians in day-to-day operations of the data center including security functions, general site response and triage, and customer interaction. Technicians must ensure that data center problems are identified and repaired quickly, that contractors deliver quality services, and that internal customer demands are met.We are currently hiring for the Overnight Shift:
11 :00pm - 7:00am, Friday - TuesdayA Tier 1 technician will hold responsibilities in the functional areas of: Security operations, first-responder, fire watch, safety, troubleshooting, casualty response, and customer service. CoreSite's Data Center Technicians gain working knowledge of the general data center mechanical, electrical, telecom, and security equipment. Responsibilities include monitoring and responding to mechanical, electrical, fire protection, and security systems. These systems include transformers, PLCs, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, STSs, ATSs, PDUs, chilled water systems, CRAC/CRAH, wet sprinkler systems, pre-action sprinkler, security hardware, and CCTV.The ability to write concise and accurate reportsThe ability to appropriately escalate data center incidents and respond to alarmsFamiliar with CCTV and access and control security systemsThe ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staffGood troubleshooting skillsThe ability to learn quickly and address issues as they arise in a Mission Critical 24x7 environmentSchedule flexibility with ability to work non-standard business hoursStrong work ethic and accountabilityThe ability to work independently and follow all escalation procedures in regard to critical or emergency situations.The ability to operate in and promote a rigorous process-driven team environmentThe ability to logically analyze and solve problemsThe ability to effectively multi-task while assisting customers and working on multiple projectsOperate hand and machine tools (hammer, drill, saw, etc.)Operate electrical tools such as a multi-meter or infrared cameraFamiliar with computer systems and software programs - i.e., MS Word, Excel, MS Outlook.A Tier I technician will gain an on-the-job understanding of the mechanical, electrical, fire life safety, and security systems used in a data center environment including, but not limited to the following: electrical distribution and layout, transformers, PLCs, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, STSs, ATSs, PDUs, chilled water systems, CRAC/CRAHs, pre-action sprinkler systems, security hardware, CCTV, monitoring, and CMMS systems.Education/Experience:High School Diploma or greater1+ years of experience in either customer service or security industryExperience in a mission critical facility is a plusPhysical Demands and Special Requirements:Ability to stand 1/3 – 2/3 of the timeAbility to walk 1/3 – 2/3 of the timeAbility to sit 1/3 – 2/3 of the timeAbility to climb and balance 1/3 – 2/3 of the timeAbility to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl 1/3 – 2/3 of the timeAbility to reach with hands & arms 1/3 – 2/3 of the timeAbility to smell, talk & hearAbility to use hands to type, handle & feelAbility to reach with hands and armsAbility to see at close and distance ranges and the ability to see colorMust be comfortable working in a high stress, fast-paced environment with shifting prioritiesMust be willing to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, late nights, holidays, and on-call supportAbility to lift up to 50 pounds 1/3 of the timeCompensation:Compensation for this role includes a base salary between $25.00 - $28.00 hourly.
