Pre-Certification Specialist - Business OfficeResponsibilities/Accountabilities:Pre-certification:Pre-certify evaluation and treatment as required by insurance provider and document appropriately.Verify insurance eligibility and benefits online or by phone; update insurance policy information in EMR as required, such as completion of Notification of Benefits form.Verify receipt of all necessary pre-authorization documents prior to treatment.Provide patients with estimated written documentation of covered services per the patient’s insurance coverage.Scheduling and Registration:Greet patients upon arrival in a prompt, polite, and helpful manner.Accurately and efficiently check patients in using practice management system.Collect patient and insurance information required to update EMR including scanning insurance cards.Collect co-payments according to insurance plan information, appointment type, and document if needed on co-pay record.Direct patients within clinic and notify clinical staff as needed.Accurately key patient demographic information in EMR.Perform medical reception duties as needed including answering telephones, screening calls, taking messages, and pulling patient information.Answer patient questions and respond professionally to patient concerns.Answer incoming calls to triage, schedule, or cancel appointments for therapy services and/or take complete and accurate messages.Use Therapy Services protocols including insurance coverage to determine the most appropriate approach to scheduling patients.Make outgoing calls to reschedule appointments as needed or to provide patient reminders of appointment times and information needed for appointments, insurance cards, etc.Print schedules and prepare patient information for the following day ensuring medical record is current and documentation needed is available.Call patients who missed appointments to reschedule.Check patients out when appointment ends, schedule follow-up appointments as requested.Perform various clerical duties including copying, faxing, scanning, and filing.Other duties assigned in support of clinicians or physicians.Education, Experience, and Certification/Licensure Required:High School Diploma or equivalent required.Customer service experience and basic computer skills required, preferably in a Windows environment with electronic medical records software.Medical terminology or other previous medical office experience desirable.Pre-certification experience preferred.Additional Information:Position Type:
