Sr Software Systems Engineer , you will be responsible for the development of digital tools to support Medtronic Operations. This is a global role and reports to the Digital Performance Management Director. The ideal candidate would have experience with manufacturing automation software such as C#, Python, PLC and be familiar with Industry 4.0 technology like IIoT sensors, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning (ML) modeling. Sr Software Systems Engineer

will lead the development of Digital Performance Management tools such as OEE, KPI Dashboards, Production Tracker, and/or future apps within the LiveLink platform, Medtronic’s proprietary solution based on Ignition (Inductive Automation). This role will lead the corresponding data collection from automated equipment controller, manual operator interfaces and interfaces to other Manufacturing Systems like Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and Statistical Process Control (SPC); and will act as SME for all Digital Performance Management tools, liaison with IT and key stakeholders, and will lead all development activities, in-house and third-party.The

Sr Software Systems Engineer

is a global role and reports to the Digital Performance Management Director within the Digital Transformation organization. The primary location is Tempe, AZ with the option for a Hybrid Work Model (HWM) at any Medtronic facility in the West Region.Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:Ensure that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.Design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for enhancements and maximize new products.Determine hardware compatibility and/or influence design.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to determine customer and product software design requirements.Generate systems software engineering policies, standards, and procedures.Manage the entire application lifecycle (concept, design, test, release, and support). Gather specific requirements and suggest solutions.Work with other team members such as Product Owners, QA and process SMEs to assess risk during three project phases (project initiation, pre-validation test assessment and post-validation test assessment).Review department specifications and process documentation to ensure compliance with FDA regulations and Medtronic internal quality policies.Communicate status updates to key stakeholders.Recognize factors that could negatively affect project timelines / deliverables and effectively communicate impact to direct manager.Must Have: Minimum Requirements

Bachelor of Science degree with Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent.Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in full stack development, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience.Strong understanding of SCADA software and tools (Ignition preferred).Experience using SQL and data modeling to support software solutions.Nice to Have

Ignition Certification 8.0 or greater.Strong understanding of frontend technologies (e.g., HTML/CSS/JavaScript, React, Angular).Strong understanding of backend technologies (e.g., .NET Core, Python, C#).Familiar with Agile and Scrum methodologies.Experience with PLC logic programming.Experience with OPC/MQTT protocol.Experience with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).About Medtronic
