Job Responsibilities

The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is seeking an organized, professional, and results oriented individual to serve as Deputy Director of Intact Family Services. This position will plan, develop, and administer Intact Family Services operations for the Department, serving as principal policy formulating administrator on a statewide basis. The position will provide oversight of subordinate Administrators and Regional Administrators who provide oversight of their respective areas. This position provides a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about children and interested in being a leader in the administration of services to intact families. As Deputy Director of Intact Family Services, plans, develops, directs, and administers intact family services operations for the DepartmentServes as full line supervisor of subordinate supervisory staffServes as a member of the Director’s Executive Staff, providing advice and consultation on Department policies, programs, and operations involving intact family servicesProvides consultation, guidance, and policy interpretation to subordinate supervisory staff, community officials, and the private sectorRepresents the Director and the Department to the community and press, public officials, governmental and private agencies, welfare councils, and civic organizations, possessing significant authority to bind the Department to a specific policy course of actionPerforms other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Minimum Qualifications

Requires an MSW or master’s degree in a related human services field, in business administration, or a juris doctorateRequires four years of administrative experience in human services in child welfare/child protection servicesRequires a thorough knowledge and understanding of the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act (ANCRA) and other child welfare laws and Illinois child protection reporting/investigation regulations

Preferred Qualifications

6 years of experience supervising professional staff.5 years of professional experience in the oversight of a large program with multiple sites or multiple teams of subordinate professional staff5 years of experience managing or conducting child welfare casework or child protection investigationsProfessional experience in the development and implementation of policies and proceduresProfessional experience conducting planning activities for a social work program on a regional or statewide basis in a management capacityProfessional experience conducting community outreach as a representative of a public or business organization

Conditions of Employment

Requires completion of a background check and self-disclosure of criminal history.Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver’s license

Work Hours: Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm
