SENIOR ENGINEER I

Schneider Structural Engineers is currently seeking a Senior Engineer 1 to join our team.Overview
This position is primarily responsible for performing technical engineering work, making technical computations, and writing reports with greater efficiency, proficiency, and experience than an Engineer I and Engineer II. This position requires leadership qualities such as initiative, resilience, anticipating problems, assertiveness, and confidence, as well as the ability to look beyond immediate tasks.Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Utilizes good time management skills.Plans and performs work that requires judgment in and application of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.Completes all assigned tasks by the deadline and close to or within budget.Edits structural specifications.Reads and becomes familiar with architectural and other consultant plans and specifications.Coordinates work with other design disciplines (architectural, mechanical, electrical, etc.).Research design options and documents findings.Oversees and participates in complete construction document preparation from inception to completion of project.Reviews existing buildings and other structures for code compliance.Becomes familiar with most types of building materials and their associated design codes and standards.Attends and participates in client meetings.Estimates with reasonable accuracy the level of engineering and drafting effort for most project types.Oversees phases of larger projects and entire smaller projects as the lead engineer.Oversees and trains junior engineering staff.Serves as Project Manager on occasion and as a designated client contact on minor projects.Performs quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) of own work and work performed under their supervision.Accountable for own work and work performed under their supervision.Attends meetings at the construction site and/or design office.Assists with project proposal preparation.Maintains effective working relationship with select clients.Upholds the ethics and values of the company.Assists in business development and marketing as needed or requested.Performs other duties as assigned.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Possession of a Master’s degree (MS) in Civil Engineering or a closely related field may be substituted for one year of professional structural engineering experience.Employee must have a valid Certificate of Registration as a Civil Engineer issued by a State Board of Registration. This registration must be maintained throughout the employee’s employment.LANGUAGE SKILLS:Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.REASONING ABILITY:Ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.COMPUTER SKILLS:To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; Design software; Internet software; Spreadsheet software, Computer Aided Drafting Software (AutoCAD in particular), Computer Aided Modeling Software (Revit in particular), and Word Processing software.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
