We leverage emerging and state-of-the-art technologies to create innovative products that make it easier for customers to manage the cost, compliance, and connectivity of their cloud applications.We are hiring a Senior User Researcher to join our design and research teams. The user researcher will have a significant impact on our business and provide direction and vision for evolving the role of research in product development; identify opportunities to increase efficiency, and drive impact across the product roadmap. This researcher will also be a key input in driving the product roadmap for an AWS service that is working on redesigning the IT audit industry.This position will provide discovery and evaluative research insights to the different product teams. The researcher will help the team better understand the international expansion of our commerce platform, working closely with internal tools teams and the customer.Key job responsibilities

This Senior User Researcher will identify opportunities for innovation and refine how customers use AWS commerce products and services and how we can translate these needs to create amazing tools. In this role you will execute a strategic research working collaboratively with UX designers, product managers, and engineers to understand opportunities and customer connections for the commerce team. You will use your deep understanding of user research methods and best practices to uncover customer (and internal) needs that help drive tactical and strategic impact across the organization. In addition, you will:Identify best research methods (quantitative and qualitative) to answer questions on our users based on research questions, timeline, and resourcing.Define and execute a comprehensive research roadmap; communicate and refresh on a regular basis to ensure relevancy.Effectively translate data and insights into strategy and design direction.Create a deep understanding and empathy for our customers across diverse audiences, including designers, PMs, engineers, and business leaders.Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize research questions based on analysis of current knowledge, project goals and risks.Continually learn, grow, and improve the craft of UX research.A day in the life

You'll meet with product, design, and engineering stakeholders to cover areas for research investigation (both generative for new ideas and to validate approaches to design execution), review documents and attend team meetings with leadership to ensure insights from research are applied to our development processes, and share them with the UX team for cross-organizational improvements on shared workflows across our suite of tools.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of experience with UX research, including formative, generative and evaluative methodological approaches across all product lifecycle stages (e.g., strategy, design, development).Mixed method experience, including qualitative and quantitative research.Portfolio demonstrating past work experience and deliverables (e.g., study plans, journey maps, reports, etc.).BS in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Cultural Anthropology, or related discipline.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

MS or Ph.D. in Human Factors, HCI, HCDE, Cognitive Psychology, Anthropology, or similar.Quantitative research skills, including experience with cluster analysis, MaxDiff, surveys and behavioral telemetry.Qualitative research skills, including experience with contextual inquiries, interviews, focus group sessions, survey design, qualitative data analysis.Excellent communication, presentation, writing, interpersonal and analytical skills; the ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences and varying levels of the organization.An unfailing passion and capacity to advocate on behalf of our users.The ability to manage ambiguity, work autonomously, and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
