We are seeking an
IT Business Analyst
focused on documenting business requirements to join our Technology Solutions team in support of our Media & Entertainment client to rebuild a legacy application into a modern solution. The IT BA will play a key role in documenting the business requirements of an existing application, relevant use cases, and then ensure the product team has the necessary requirements to build the modernized application. This project will require the analyst to set up meetings and interviews with stakeholders, document current requirements, write user stories and epics within Jira, define acceptance criteria, and partner with Product and Engineering teams to ensure proper handoff. The IT BA will be required to translate business needs into functional specs for downstream teams in product and engineering. You will be working directly with the business to document requirements, as well as dive deep on requirements to ensure the future solution meets the needs of this exciting global business. You will also have experience with user acceptance testing (UAT), application support, and working within an Agile development framework. The analyst will need to work independently as well as within a team environment. Any prior Media & Entertainment experience is preferred and excellent business communications will be required. This project can be worked remotely within PST hours.
ResponsibilitiesInterview business stakeholders to document business requirements and use cases, and translate them into functional specifications.Work closely with product and engineering teams to ensure requirements are accurately interpreted.Document features of the existing system.Research and develop current use cases to support with a new system.Create low-level mocks to validate with users, and create wireframes and workflows as required to define system and business needs.Write epics and user stories around system requirements that need to be built in the future solution.Define acceptance criteria within user stories to ensure specifications are met and are aligned with business goals.Act proactively to set up meetings and document requirements in an accelerated fashion.Conduct user acceptance testing (UAT) to validate built solutions meet business needs and specifications.Utilize Agile development methodologies and tools like Jira to manage user stories and project tasks.Build and maintain strong relationships with IT teams and stakeholders to facilitate effective project delivery.
Requirements And QualificationsMinimum 5 years of experience in information technology (IT) business analysis, with a focus on documenting requirements and functional specifications.Prior experience mapping out existing applications for modernization or rebuild is required.Experience with any workflow or data mapping tools such as Visio or Lucid to map out relationships and diagrams.Experience writing functional specs (FRDs) and business requirement documents (BRDs).Experience with any cloud-based (AWS, Azure, Google) platforms would be beneficial but not required.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to create innovative solutions using technology.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of conveying technical and business concepts to diverse audiences.Experience in the media and entertainment industry, particularly with Film or TV systems is preferred.Ability to work in a hybrid model, partially onsite 3 days/week in the Los Angeles area within PST hours.Self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.Proven ability to multitask and manage project deliverables with remote teams.Comfortable facilitating requirements gathering workshops and presenting to key stakeholders.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Additional DetailsThe base range for this contract position is $50 - $65/per hour, depending on experience.
Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires of this position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
