Available shifts are Wednesday-Friday 9 am-3 pm and 12 pm-5 pm, Saturdays 9 am-5 pm, Sundays 11 am-5 pm. Flexible.Compensation:$15/hr.Sick and vacation leave, paid breaks and holidays, paid parental leave, Employer-paid life insurance, voluntary benefits (Short-Term Disability, Accident, Critical Care with Cancer, and Hospital Indemnity), Employer-paid Employee Assistance Program, party room and after-hours privileges, Acorn Café and Gift Shop discounts, and 403(b).Reports To:Museum Experience ManagerJob Summary:The Play Facilitator engages with children and parents to facilitate intentional exploration and play and interacts with caregivers around researched best practices for childhood development. The Play Facilitator specializes in an exhibit gallery and supports the Impact Area Directors with programmatic planning and delivery. Using the museum’s Learning Framework as a guide, the Play Facilitator helps to ensure that all museum visitors – both children and caregivers – maximize their experiences in each exhibit.Responsibilities and Duties:Facilitate purposeful exploration and play in one or more of the following galleries:Play With Me – a space designed for infants and toddlers to actively explore their surroundings. The Play Facilitator will provide resources for caregivers on childhood development.Follow That Food – a journey of Louisiana food from the fields and coastal waters, through the port, and into the market, café, and family table.Dig Into Nature – a discovery of Southeast Louisiana’s natural resources, including plants, animals, and sources of energy.Make Your Mark – an exploration of New Orleans’ art, architecture, music, history, and cultural heritage.Studio In The Park – an art and tinker studio where children will engage in the process of creating in a collaborative space, with an emphasis on reusable and natural materials.Move With The River – an action-packed adventure along the Mississippi River, winding and splashing from the Twin Cities all the way to the Gulf of Mexico.Facilitate open or guided experiences in affiliated outdoor learning environments, such as the Toddler Landscape and the Edible Garden.Support planning and facilitation for annual events, such as festivals or large programs.Collaborate with staff and community partners to maximize mission delivery and community engagement.Participate in weekly planning sessions with the Museum Experience Manager and Museum Experience Assistant Manager, for successful delivery and impact on young children, knowledge shared with parents, grandparents, and educators.Support training and coordination of employees, volunteers, and strategic partners who will be working alongside the Museum Experience Manager and Museum Experience Assistant Manager.Coordinate with other Play Facilitators across all galleries, the Museum Experience Manager and Assistant Manager, and volunteers.Other duties as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalentAt least 1 year of experience working with young children, ages 0-8 years oldExcellent communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skillsThank you for your interest in the Louisiana Children’s Museum.The Louisiana Children’s Museum is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, representative of the people we serve.
