The Paralegal will assist the in-house attorneys in the Legal Department in day-to-day business matters concerning but not limited to, various insolvencies and support other department functions including but not limited to, loan documentation, internal/external client service, litigation, and internal/external inquires. The candidate must possess organizational and analytical skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. The candidate must demonstrate emotional intelligence as self-awareness, social awareness, and relationship management with a positive attitude. She/he/they must be capable of interacting with employees at all levels and be a self-starter who shows initiative and multitasks effectively. The candidate must have the ability to work independently and in a team environment and demonstrate a working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and Pacer.What You'll DoWith oversight from in-house counsel, handle loan-related Insolvency issues including, but not limited to, maintaining and monitoring Bankruptcy dockets and deadlines; review of Bankruptcy motions and proceedings affecting Company; external communications with Bankruptcy Trustee and/or Debtor's counsel; Motions for Authority to Procure Financing; Motions for Relief; Receiverships; Preference Claims; and Proofs of ClaimSupport the Asset Management Department by drafting correspondence and communicating with third parties regarding the company's interests in Bankruptcy matters and otherwiseConduct research using resources such as legal documents, online databases, and other legal referencesDraft contracts, amendments, addenda, memoranda, correspondence for attorney reviewRespond to inquiries from and communicate with government agencies state and federalSupport in-house attorneys and outside counsel with litigation management.Assist in processing legal actions served upon FIRST including subpoenas, court orders, Bankruptcy-related proceedings, notifications, and motionsReview documents to determine deadlines and to ensure conformity with departmental procedures and requirementsKnowledge/Skills/Background/Experience3-5 years
