Weekly Schedule: 4x10, 07:45 AM - 06:15 PM.
Description:RN with oncology experience for Infusion Clinic serving adult patients with average daily census of 50.Busy infusion room with multi-drug regimens.Nurse will see ~6 patients per day.No weekends, no on call.Pyxis med system and EPIC documentation.Provider support includes interpretation services, pharmacy, and social services.
Knowledge and Skills:Chemotherapy (administration, body fluid handling post-chemotherapy, continuous infusion, IV push administration, management/disposal cytotoxic spills, monitoring, oral administration, recognize/communicate abnormal lab values); Accessing ports; Care and management of ports; Central line blood draw; Central line/implanted line care; infusion pump management; intravenous hydration/multivitamins; PICC line care; Starting IVs; Medications (antiemetic, antitumor, antibiotic, corticosteroids, neupogen, hormonal therapy); IV push narcotic agents; Neutropenic precautions; phlebotomy skills.
Experience:03 years’ experience required.EPIC experience preferred.40 hours orientation (more as needed).Caribbean blue scrubs (not provided).
Required Certifications & Licensure:BSN, BLS (AHA), Chemo Certificate.OCN, ONS/ONCC preferred.
Skills Preferred:BMT: Infusion Center; Inpatient Oncology; Outpatient Oncology; Radiation Oncology; Active Immunotherapy Specific/Non-Specific; Recognize/manage side effects; Administration of bone marrow; Graft Rejection; Graft-versus-host Disease; Stem cell therapies; Care of patients with various types of cancer; Oncologic Emergencies (ATLS, Anaphylaxis, Extravasation injury; hemmorrhage, sepsis, spinal cord compression); Medication tolerance/dependence assessment; Advanced Directives; Hospice Care; Patient/Family Education and Support; Withholding/withdrawing treatment; Symptom Management (Alteration in skin and mucous membranes, altered mental status, constipation/diarrhea, dysphagia, edema, nausea/vomiting, neuropathy); Post-surgical Care.
