JOB DUTIES
Manages the daily patient care activities of the Operating Room.
Assures efficient utilization of OR resources by proactively managing the long-range (4-6week) patient schedule in collaboration with anesthesiology directors and surgeons.
Supervises & evaluates staff through observation of performance. Ensures competency of new employees & performs annual evaluations. Conducts coaching & counseling sessions with employees following hospital policies & guidelines. Identifies learning needs/opportunities of staff and addresses the need. Identifies, supports & implements cross training of staff in collaboration with directors & the education department.
Collaborates to ensure accountability for nursing standards, evidence based practice, & regulations. Responsible for regulatory readiness of the department at all times.
Assures adequate fiscally & clinically responsible daily staffing. Assures department meets its productivity benchmark.
Responds to emergency situations & initiates appropriate responses as necessary. Remains calm and continue to provide leadership & a sense of professionalism during emergency situations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
