Join our diverse team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. Our MK2 Crew Lander mission will demonstrate the lander’s core capabilities – including the privately funded BE-7 landing engine, precision landing sensors, and integrated power and propulsion architecture – as a precursor to certifying the vehicle for use by NASA as part of the Artemis lunar exploration program. The team building this vehicle is rethinking how space systems are designed, with a high-performance architecture, efficient reusability, and rapid design iteration. Passion for our mission and vision is required!Special Mentions:Relocation providedOccasional travel up to 25% of the time1st Shift: 8am – 5pmInterviews will include a technical assessmentWork from work – not a remote or hybrid roleResponsibilities include but are not limited to:End-to-End ownership of the Fluids and Propulsion design and verification requirementsIntegrate between fluids propulsion subsystem and overall system level vehicle design, analysis, software, operationsUnderstand and manage key Technical Performance Metrics for the systemSupport the development and execution of component and subsystem testsCoordination of plans for verification and validationSpearhead the organization and preparation efforts for gate reviewsEnsure timely updates and communication of system level architecture diagrams and schematicsCreatively guide the team to balance the objectives of high velocity development program while meeting the intent of standard system engineering processesTackle the diverse range fluids propulsion design engineer tasks like leading trade studies, component design/integration, 1st order analysis, test support and supplier interface as the opportunity ariseMentor and educate junior Blue Origin employees on systems engineering processes and methodsLead a team of 5-10 Systems EngineersWork inter-dependently with other project members to drive progress at the program levelQualifications:Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or similar8+ years of experience in fluids design, space propulsion, cryogenic systems, systems engineering or other relevant experienceExperience working on rapid development teamsProven understanding and passion for Systems Engineering principles and practices such as requirements definition, requirements traceability, functional decomposition, verification and validation, creating and managing interface control document (ICD), configuration management, and systems engineering management plan (SEMP)Excellent written and verbal communication skillsExperience with requirements development/management tools such as JAMAAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusionMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Desired:M.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical subject area10+ years of experience in fluids design/space propulsion/cryogenic systems experience or a relevant experienceExperience with systems engineering modeling tools, such as Rhapsody or Cameo.Experience with owning entry/exit criteria of NASA technical reviewExperience with aerospace componentsExperience with CAD (Creo), Windchill PLMExperience with certification of human-rated space systemsCompensation Range for:CO applicants is $134,838.38-$188,773.73;WA applicants is $146,644.50-$205,302.30
