DescriptionLeidos Defense Systems is actively seeking a
Senior Software Engineer
to join our team at the FISTA in Lawton, OK to support a variety of Air Defense and Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems (C-UAS).The selected individual will perform software development activities as a member of an agile development team. Development includes the full range of turning agile stories into implementable concepts, through development, testing, and deployment of the new capabilities in this complex system.Become a part of a team where you'll know that the system that you help develop and support are keeping deployed warfighters safe on the battlefield as well as aiding in the defense of our nation from foreign adversaries.Primary ResponsibilitiesThis position involves working collaboratively with a local and remote software team that includes product owner, technical leadership, and other engineers.
Provide technical leadership for software development activities as a member of an agile team and will actively participate in program increment planning and related team activities.
Perform high-level software development functions including design, development, troubleshooting, and debugging of software programs.
Responsible for analyzing and resolving highly complex software issues related to multiple aspects and components of the system.
Responsible for using sound software engineering principles to ensure that developed code is modifiable, efficient, reliable, understandable, fault tolerant, and reusable, including providing software process management and control throughout the coding portion of the software development process.
Work with other Software Engineers and System Engineers in resolving complex technical issues and problems that impact multiple facets of the system.
Software is developed in an innovative, technology-driven self-disciplined team environment using the Agile Scrum framework within a tailored CMMI-based software process.
Perform integration activities to connect with 3rd party software APIs.
Basic QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field and 8-12 years of prior relevant experience or Master’s with 6-10 years of prior relevant experience.
Strong proficiency with the following technologies: C++ or C# and WPF.
Must be able to debug, troubleshoot, and isolate software issues.
Must have a solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and design patterns.
Must have a strong sense of ownership and drive in digging into complex problems.
Participate in and contribute to software design and code reviews.
Must be a resident of or be willing to relocate to the Lawton, OK area.
Must be a US citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
Preferred QualificationsKnowledge of battle management systems and Joint All Domain Command and Control (JADC2) is highly desirable.
Experience working with CI/CD platforms such as Gitlab CI.
Experience with VCS such as Git, Mercurial, or SVN.
Experience in supporting flight test.
Experience with understanding of Air Defense and UAS architectures and subsystems.
Experience with development in modular open systems architecture.
