Responsibilities of the Controller:

  • Develop and execute financial strategies to support the company's growth goals, collaborating closely with executive leadership and department heads.
  • Supervise all aspects of financial reporting, encompassing budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, offering actionable insights to enhance performance and mitigate risks.
  • Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll, ensuring precision, timeliness, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements following GAAP standards, utilizing advanced financial modeling techniques to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Establish and uphold robust internal controls and procedures to protect company assets and minimize fraud, continuously assessing and enhancing processes to boost efficiency and efficacy.
  • Collaborate with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies to facilitate audits, filings, and compliance activities, guaranteeing full adherence to legal and contractual obligations.
  • Provide strategic counsel on capital allocation, investment analysis, and financing opportunities, assessing avenues for growth and expansion while optimizing capital structure and liquidity management.
  • Mentor and cultivate a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of responsibility, cooperation, and professional growth to drive individual and collective achievements.

Qualifications of the Controller Role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in finance and accounting roles, including at least 3 years in a leadership position within the construction or real estate sector.
  • Profound technical proficiency in financial reporting, analysis, and control frameworks, with a solid grasp of GAAP principles and regulatory mandates.
  • Demonstrated mastery in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting, with the ability to translate intricate data into actionable insights and strategic suggestions.
  • Proven track record of instigating process enhancements, implementing best practices, and optimizing financial performance in a dynamic and evolving business landscape.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of effectively collaborating across departments and influencing stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Strategic mindset coupled with a results-driven approach, alongside a strong commitment to integrity, ethics, and professionalism in all endeavors.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial software applications; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other analytical tools is desirable.
