Summary

The Director leads the division, oversees long-range planning, initiates and coordinates curriculum development and assessment, and advocates for student success and retention. Responsible for overseeing the curriculum, ensuring program outcomes, monitoring student concerns and progression, and mentoring, assigning, evaluating and supervising faculty and staff. The Director reports to the Dean of the College.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

LEADERSHIP & OPERATIONS:

Assigns faculty teaching load and responsibilities in collaboration with the Dean and Provost

Participates in the University committees, College committees & task forces

Assists Natural Science faculty and staff in assessing, revising, and creating curricula to maintain program currency, viability, and marketability to meet program, state, and national standards and guidelines.

Assists with preparing internal reports and reports required by external regulatory and accrediting bodies.

Oversees the implementation of the curricula in assurance of quality through evaluation.

Works with Dean to monitor and report admission, enrollment, retention, and graduation data for the programs.

Assures that appropriate academic advising processes for students are in place in conjunction with the advising center.

Mentors and supports faculty in carrying out their responsibilities.

Ensures accuracy and currency of catalog and website related to programs.

Monitors financial performance through the formal budget process for all units. Reviews budget to monitor actual to budgeted expenditures.

Forecasts and walk forward a budget in coordination with the Dean. Verifies data and reconciles any discrepancies.

Works with Natural Science faculty and grants staff on STEM related grant development, research and procurement.

Works with administration and Natural Sciences faculty in the development and application process for new programs in the Division of Natural Science.

FACULTY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching, Service, and Scholarship commensurate to faculty position and rank.

Role involves teaching responsibilities in the director's discipline depending on the candidate's expertise.

ln addition to the responsibilities and duties listed, the Dean of CNHSB may request that the Divisional Director of Natural Sciences assume other responsibilities as needed. Occasional travel may be required to meetings and/or national conferences.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree required with an emphasis on natural and/or health sciences.

Minimum of 3-years of experience in higher education.

Experience in academic administration preferred with a focus on curriculum development.

Experience in grant development, research and writing with demonstrated track record of securing competitive grant funds from federal and state agencies and private foundations preferred.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and experience with Learning Management Systems.
