We are looking for a Senior Counsel to support our US Insurance team. The candidate will be a valued team member that manages a large portfolio of commercial agreements; drafts and negotiates a wide range of agreements with our customers and vendors; anticipates, investigates, and protects the company against risk exposure; advises and provides counsel to stakeholders on legal matters, including but not limited to the status of agreement negotiations; oversees legal matters with outside counsel; and exhibits a willingness to learn. The candidate may also have management and mentoring responsibility for one or more team members.
What You'll Bring:
Juris Doctorate (JD) degree required, an active bar license in good standing, and four to six (4-6) years of experience, with at least four (4) years of experience as a practicing attorney (in-house or law firm) focused on U.S. commercial transactions involving information services.
Knowledge and understanding of the following areas of law are preferred, but not required: FCRA, GLBA, DPPA, privacy, technology (e.g. Artificial Intelligence), intellectual property, business organizations, and partnering arrangements.
Knowledge and understanding of insurance regulations (specifically those regarding the use of traditional data and ECDIS in insurance underwriting and rating) and sunshine laws, such as state and federal FOIA.
Participates in internal regulatory reviews of products and solutions.
Strong organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking skills (root cause analysis, problem solving, issue spotting, and decision making).
Ability to read, interpret, and advise business partners on complex documents, including laws, contracts, business documents, system documents, company policies, and procedures.

Experience advising clients with regard to and negotiating data services, data acquisition, and technology licensing agreements in a regulated environment (ideally in the insurance or public record information services industries), and a strong regulatory compliance background.

Advise internal clients on legal and business issues and the implications of alternative positions to enable informed business decisions.
Maintain primary responsibility for reviewing, negotiating, and drafting complex contracts and related documents.
Conduct legal research and provide advice to stakeholders regarding changes in the law, contracts, or other legal issues that may involve the company’s short or long-term strategic operations.
Responsible for keeping abreast of current legislative and regulatory developments that may have an impact upon operations.
Assist other attorneys on various matters including those which present potential for litigation.
Maintain complete confidentiality of company-related business.
Keep immediate supervisor informed of pertinent developments within areas of assigned responsibilities.
Provide formal and informal training for internal clients.
This position may require occasional travel.
This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.

Pay Scale Information:The salary range for this position is $108,905.00 - $184,600.00. *The salary range for this position reflects the general range of compensation for this job and does not include our bonus incentive(s). This position is eligible for bonus incentive(s). At TransUnion, actual compensation is based on careful consideration of additional factors such as (but not limited to) an individual’s education, training, work experience, job-related skill set, industry knowledge, as well as the scope and responsibilities of the position, and market considerations.
