The Senior Engineer will lead and participate in multiple team environments and to provide independent efforts to all aspects of system integration including design, needs analysis, design review, testing, implementation, and validation. As a highly technical and hands-on position, the Senior Engineer will be responsible for systems in support of Lumen’s Government and commercial managed security services platforms addressing .gov and critical infrastructure protection missions.The Main ResponsibilitiesConducts surveys to determine ISP build requirements for incorporation in proposalsCreates Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for ISP construction projects including labor estimates, material estimates, Other Direct Charges, Travel, etcDirectly interfaces with Government customers, vendors, subcontractors, and other company groupsProduces Engineering Design Packages (EDPs) or other documents for ISP installationsDesigns, fabricates, modifies, and evaluates equipment and devicesDesign site cable tray systems, cable paths and conveyancesDevelop estimates for project schedules and budgetAssists with installation of metro and wide area network equipmentProvides engineering assistance for ISP and OSP installation teamsCoordinates subcontractors, materials, tools and equipment to complete projects on schedule and within budgetUnderstands and adheres to Federal, customer site and company policies and practicesPerforms testing of DS-1, DS-3, SONET, and Optical Ethernet circuits using Bit Error Rate Testers, OTDRs, Optical Powers Meters and other optical test equipmentUpdates network drawings using AUTOCAD, MS Visio and other software-based applicationsPosition requires moderate travelWhat We Look For in a CandidateExperience with SONET, DWDM, Ethernet equipment and networks requiredKnowledge of Lucent, Ciena/Nortel, Infinera, and Cisco equipment desirableBachelor’s degree in Engineering, a related field or equivalent experienceAt least five years applicable systems engineering and installation experienceTS/SCI is requiredMust meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information (Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation.)US Citizenship requiredCompensationThe starting salary for this role differs based on the employee's primary work location. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual's qualifications.
