Solstice Consulting Group is seeking an experienced
Mechanical Reliability Engineer
for our chemical client located in Houston, Texas.
This role is an in-office position in East Houston on a 9/80 work schedule with up to 10% domestic travel as necessary.
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 7+ years of experience required
5+ years of mechanical integrity and maintenance experience in the oil and gas, refining, or chemical industries required
Base salary of $110k - $135k DOE plus bonus opportunity and excellent benefits
The Mechanical Reliability Engineer will manage the mechanical integrity program, provide and support Inspection analysis, pressure equipment assessments and develop repair plans, supervise mechanical work and provide expertise on equipment design/selection and enforce plant policies and procedures.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with Engineering Team, develops Preventive Maintenance plans
Develops Equipment Strategy to maximize equipment lifetime and minimize unplanned downtimes
Following areas will fall under the scope of responsibility:
Static equipment: Pressure vessels, Piping, Valves, Heat Exchangers, Storage vessels
Machinery equipment : pumps, blowers, compressors, Agitators,
Instruments: Flow meters, Level, Pressure, Gas Detectors, Junction Boxes, etc
Electrical: MCCs, Motors, breakers, switch gears, Electrical Tracing equipment, light fixtures, etc
Accountable for controlling maintenance costs, budgeting and staying within budget
Provide mechanical engineering expertise in troubleshooting equipment issues, evaluation of equipment failures and technical recommendations for repairs/upgrades
Manage, coordinate and implement all MI relate activities
Assist in developing key metrics to measure the site maintenance performance and develop improvement plans
Responsible for spare parts/inventory program to reduce production downtime
Responsible for coordinating plant shutdowns with operations
Support capital projects including providing input during FEL and Definition phases, supporting by identifying Maintenance requirements, and coordinate with vendors, contractors, as needed
Assist compliance with process design standards and practices for the plant
maintain existing practices and implement improvements to stay current with industry best-practices.
Accountable for compliance with all pertinent internal/external regulatory requirements
Maintenance of ISO 9001:2008 certifications for the business by complying with processes, procedures and instructions for all activities in which this role participates
Complies with all pertinent safety policies, rules and regulations
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering and 7+ years of experience required
5+ years of mechanical integrity and maintenance experience in the oil and gas, refining, or chemical industries required
Demonstrated ability with mechanical equipment, manufacturing and chemical process equipment, and product and process knowledge
Demonstrated ability to evaluate and optimize processes
Understanding of engineering principles and how to apply methods to existing equipment
Experience with preventative and predictive maintenance techniques
Experience/knowledge troubleshooting mechanical equipment, to include leading Root Cause Failure Analysis and driving
corrective/preventative
actions from it
Ability to work in an on-call capacity for plant emergencies.
Creative problem solving and critical thinking skills.
