Assist in the day-to-day activities and communications of the Technical Department, reporting to the COE Technical Manager. Facilitate the trial process and communication needs across multiple departments. Develop, maintain, and disseminate a variety of technical information. Provide support to technical staff with a focus on product development and ensuring details are accurate. Work with Sales, Corporate Technical, and Marketing to generate prototype samples in pursuit of new opportunities. This is not an IT position.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.Participate in training, embrace concepts of and actively practice the SPOT Safety Program fundamentals to aid American Packaging Corporation's efforts to achieve a zero-accident rate.Coordinate trial activity within the Division to include:Preparation of required trial documentsContact with vendors and customers as required.Communication of trial scheduleInspecting Finished goods and applying trial labels to rolls/pallets before shipment to customerCoordinate timely receipt of data and create trial reports.Coordinate appropriate field coverage of trials at customer site with technical service group.Generation/Upkeep of a "NBO-new business opportunities" status documentationQualify new and alternate materials through the deviation process. Controlling the deviation process by writing, approving, and closing deviations for the department to ensure the appropriate long-term actions are taken based off the deviation.Participate in the Production Order process by providing information and assigning specifications. Ensuring the right specifications are aligned with the Finished Goods Items and information is properly recorded/assigned in the ERP system.Attend and participate in all company mandated meetings.Any other responsibilities as assigned.COE Technical Specialist Duties:Provide daily assistance to the COE Technical Manager/Department and Corporate Technical Team in areas such as communication with internal customers, data compilation, preparation of reports, meeting minutes, etc. Also includes ability to write all specification types: Product Spec, Finishing Spec, Pouch Spec, Perforation Spec, etc.Make prototype samples for customer innovation and collaboration efforts, including digitally printing and hand formation of packages. Maintain the Roland digital printer.Support Technical related quality investigations by working with manufacturing and quality.Manage in-plant technical trials and documenting results of trials and ensuring trial results match desired customer defined and internal targets. Close out Project Files to meet requirements of the ISO Quality Systems.Working in Laboratory to complete non-standard evaluations.Specification Control Duties:Maintain Technical Specification Systems across the company.Work with IT and other Technology Resources to maintain acceptable functionality of these systems.Ensure these Specification Systems are properly connected to other department needs (such as Radius or Filemaker) to facilitate flow of information.Create and Maintain Technical SpecificationsRaw Material Specs, Product Specs, Finishing Specs, Pouch Specs, Dielines, and other technical communication needs.Support Regulatory and Purchasing by collecting documentation from Suppliers to facilitate new material qualifications, food safety assessments, and other requested information.Facilitate the Information Flow through the Technical Project Management Process and WorkflowsCreate Summary ReportsTrack Progress & Measure Performance while looking for areas of improvement.Help Users and Ensure Proper Information Flow on TrialsHelp with Project Communications to Customers/Sales/Management
