Locum Tenens Gastroenterologist Opportunity - Near Sacramento, CA

We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Gastroenterologist for a locum tenens position near Sacramento, CA. This role involves providing both clinic-based consultative care and performing GI procedures. The ideal candidate will be available to work for at least six months to a year. This opportunity offers a chance to work in a dynamic clinical environment and assist with the backlog of diagnostic and screening procedures.

Position Details:
  • Specialty: Gastroenterology
  • Shift Type: Days
  • Shift Times:
    • Weekdays: 8:00 AM 5:00 PM
    • Monday through Friday
  • Assignment Duration: ASAP - Ongoing (6 months to a year)
Primary Duties:
  • Setting: Clinic and outpatient
  • Procedures: Colonoscopy and endoscopy, 2-3 days per week
  • Patient Load:
    • 16-20 patients per day in the clinic
    • 8-10 procedures per day in the outpatient center
  • Consultative and Follow-Up Care: Provide care in the ambulatory clinic setting
  • Support Staff: Assigned medical assistant and procedure scheduler
Key Responsibilities:
  • Clinic Setting: The provider will work 5 days a week in an outpatient clinic setting.
  • GI Procedures: Perform routine GI procedures such as colonoscopies and endoscopies.
  • Call: Minimal call responsibilities, primary focus is clinic and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Board Certification/Eligibility: Gastroenterology
  • State License: Active California license required
  • Gastroenterology Fellowship: Strongly preferred
  • Malpractice: Clean malpractice history strongly preferred
EMR System:
  • Cerner: Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
Credentialing:
  • Emergency/Temporary Privileges: Not available
  • Start Date: ASAP - Ongoing
