In Flight’s Community Hab department is looking for creative and self-motivated staff to work 1:1 with children and/or adults with developmental disabilities both at home and within the community. You must be able to relate positively to people with developmental disabilities and want to support their goals for a fulfilling life. This is a flexible, fun, and independent position!
GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOBThis position entails providing one-to-one support to a person with a developmental disability in their homeand community. You must have patience, a personable demeanor, excellent communication skills, and be able to effectively work with minimal direct supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESResponsible for working with people to achieve valued outcomes set forth in their at home residential habilitation plan as well as their individualized service plansResponsible for assisting and supervising in the environment of their choice.Responsible for overall protective oversight of the person based upon their needs. Assisting with teaching Personal Hygiene/Self Care.Assist with
skill building services for the continued development and teaching of daily living skills.Community inclusion: learning to use libraries, recreation centers, go shopping including Basic Money Management: how to make intelligent purchases, count change.Self -advocacy/Inform choice: helping persons to make choices and advocate for themselvesTravel Training use trains & buses, make transfers, etc.Appropriate Social Skills/Behavior/Relationship building.Safety in the community/home: crossing streets, seeking help.Report all allegations of abuse, neglect to your supervisor immediately.Submit all paperwork in a timely manner - documentation of services provided to each IndividualMeet monthly with supervisor for supervision.Weekly schedules are established with the individual and family.May perform other related duties needed to meet the needs of the individual/family.
$18.00 an hourPer Diem (5 to 29 hours a week), evenings, and weekends. Cases in Columbia County.•
Quarterly bonus- must average 20 hours per week per quarter to qualify for it.•
PAY INCENTIVES Available
EXPERIENCE:•
Working with Individuals that have IDD preferred but not required.
Requirements:•
High School Diploma or GED•
Pass all NYS and OPWDD background clearances.•
Attending a full multi-day orientation in Red Hook•
USE OF YOUR OWN VEHICLE -Mileage reimbursement available for any transportation of the person(s) supported.
