Position OverviewThis is a volunteer position with the opportunity to positively impact the conservation of birds and the natural world in York County Maine. The YCA Secretary maintains official records, manages board and organizational records, and supports board communication and decision-making processes.Key Responsibilities:Board Meeting Management
Attend monthly board meetings and programs (virtual or in-person).Record, distribute, and archive meeting minutes.Maintain knowledge of YCA bylaws, policies, and previous board decisions.
Record Keeping
Maintain and ensure accessibility of all board records.
Communication
Notify board of meetings and events.Assist with meeting agenda preparation and distribution.Manage general board correspondence.
Board Support
Assist with new board member orientation.Help coordinate committees and task forces as needed.
QualificationsStrong organizational and communication skills.Proficiency in word processing and digital file management.Ability to attend regular meetings and events.Passion for bird conservation and environmental stewardship.Previous experience in similar role preferred but not required.Time CommitmentMonthly board meetings (1-2 hours each).3-5 additional hours per month for other duties.TermThe Secretary position and serving as a Board member is a 2-year commitment, with the possibility of renewal.Meeting ScheduleThird Tuesday of March-June and September-November, 5:30pm.Additional meetings in late January and mid-summer (dates TBD).
