2 years of previous Class A CDL Driving experience.Preferred Qualifications:Tractor-trailer experience in all 4 seasons preferred.Drayage experience is required.Flatbed experience is required and tarping is a plus.Must be able to drive a manual transmission.Position Description:The local Driver is responsible for operating tractor-trailer combinations locally, to transport intermodal containers between company and customer facilities, rail yards, and/or work sites in a safe and timely manner. Driver will also be responsible for operating tractor-trailer combinations locally, to transport flatbed and end dump trailers between company and customer facilities, interfacility moves, and/or work sites in a safe and timely manner.Major Areas of Responsibility:Operate a tractor-trailer combination safely and efficiently to transport assigned loadsEnsure all loaded materials are safely secured prior to and throughout transportInspect company vehicles/trailers and report necessary maintenance in accordance with policies and proceduresCheck-in with the Transportation department daily for assignments and updatesParticipate in all job briefings, follow railroad protection limits, and conduct proper radio communicationsPractice proper housekeeping with clean, properly maintained vehicles, tools, and equipmentAccurately complete and maintain a drivers log in accordance with requirementsEnsure compliance with all safety requirements, policies, and proceduresReport all job site incidents and injuries to Transportation Manager immediatelyComplete and maintain all required safety training and certificationsMinimum Qualifications:Must be at least 21 years of ageHigh school diploma or equivalent preferredClass A CDL required (must have air brake endorsement and no manual transmission restrictions)Motor vehicle record must not have any major driving offenses within the last three (3) yearsAt least 2 years of over-the-road driving experience required; flatbed driving experience preferredEffective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read and writeDemonstrated strong mechanical and intermediate mathematical skillsWork Requirements:Dependable and consistent attendance/punctualityAbility to safely operate heavy equipment and drive a DOT regulated vehicleAbility to obtain and maintain a DOT medical card, required for DOT regulated vehicle operationAbility and willingness to fly commercial airlines for business related travelAbility to effectively use an iPhone and mobile printerUnderstand and accurately interpret/follow laws, rules, regulations, and other railroad/Iron Junction guidelinesEstablish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with a diverse groupAbility to transverse and work on uneven surfaces in an outdoor environment submit to all elements/conditionsAbility to change easily from one task to another (varying in nature) and deal with competing demandsAbility to meet all functional requirements including, but not limited to: lifting/carrying (up to 100lbs), sitting, kneeling, climbing, standing, walking, bending, squatting, pulling, finger dexterity, and reaching above/below shouldersPersonal protective equipment must be used/worn as requiredMust be available to work 1 weekend a month at the discretion of the local transportation managerComprehensive Benefits offered:Paid time offAffordable Health, Dental, and Vision insuranceHealthcare spending reimbursement account- HSAQuarterly Bonus Incentive OpportunityCompany Paid Short-term disability, Long-term disability, and Life Insurance401K with MatchAnnual Company clothing store allowanceParental leaveCompany match on charitable donationsWe look forward to receiving your application!
