Department of Theatre

has an opening for a highly-motivated Costume Shop Manager. The Costume Shop Manager will serve the Department of Theatre by managing day-to-day activities in the costume shop, drape patterns, and sew on all theatre productions while following the University's core
mission, vision, and culture
. The successful candidate will maintain clear communication and a positive, professional decorum with all personnel.
Specific Responsibilities:
Duties include oversight of costume shop and production budgets.Manage day-to-day activities in the costume shop, drape patterns, and sew on all theatre productions.Attend weekend calls and production meetings as needed, and attend all fittings.Manage supplies and equipment, manage and supervise costume work-study personnel and volunteers, travel to make area purchases, and manage costume inventory and rentals.Minimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have strong organizational and personnel management skills. Applicant must have solid costume construction background in flat patterning techniques, period patterning and construction techniques, cutting and draping, fitting, hand and machine stitching, and stock organization.Working knowledge of budget practices and Microsoft Suite.Ability to supervise student assistants, and student volunteers and provide oversight to classes working in the Costume Studio.Preferred Qualifications:
Strong working knowledge of textiles, costume history, wig, hair styling, wardrobe and makeup in a theatre environment.
