General Statement of Job
Performs routine professional activities coordinating the City's front-end website development and maintenance. Work involves planning, designing, implementing, managing, and supporting web technology in Internet, Intranet and Extranet environments. Creates and/or reviews, organizes, and publishes approved information and content and develops and maintains City web site pages. Ensures compliance and compatibility with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), state statutes, and applicable regulations.
Work is performed under general supervision with limited latitude in the use of initiative and independent judgment based on professional education and previous experience. Reports to the Network Infrastructure Manager or designee.
Essential Job Functions

Plans, designs, implements, manages, maintains, and updates the City's Internet, Intranet and Extranet websites; participates in the development and safeguard of the website standards policy.
Manages web (Windows) and database (Microsoft SQL) servers and is the Database Administrator (DBA), as needed, throughout the City; designs and implements database applications relating to the website; installs and configures web servers; troubleshoots issues and escalates problems pertaining to various servers; schedules and communicates all server upgrades,
Integrates and maintains the City's internal applications including but not limited to, geographic information system (GIS), Click2Gov, and Laserfiche.
Provides technical knowledge in the selection of third-party web-based applications; analyzes requirements for new web-based applications through meetings with user departments.
Oversees and maintains publication of all public information for the website; creates and publishes content compatible with both Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA); prepares file layouts and required documentation and documents web designs.
Writes and reviews information for placement on the web site; creates and edits digital and media content; ensures all published materials utilize proper grammar and AP style copy.
Coordinates with individual departmental representatives and assists staff in the creation and implementation of departmental web pages and publication of information; develops automation techniques for end users for posting data to the website.
Collects and analyzes website usage information and prepares reports as requested.Coordinates and/or arranges web streaming and trains users and operators on systems.Interacts with citizens regarding their inquiries about the website, departmental pages and available information and online services.
Stays abreast of new programming languages and tools available to enhance web development; identifies and introduces new web-based features and capabilities to City websites.
Adheres to all city and public health and safety guidelines and protocols; performs job functions in a safe manner and reports all safety hazards per established policies and procedures.
Maintains quality communication and interaction with all city personnel, representatives from external organizations, and the public to maintain good will toward the city and to project a positive city image.
Demonstrates behaviors that support the City's Vision and Values.
Maintains on-call work availability as assigned, to prepare for, respond to, or recover from a hurricane, tropical weather event, or other emergency to meet the city's obligation to remain operational before, during, and after the event; duties assigned may or may not be typical of the job and are contingent upon the needs of the city and the residents because of the event.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with those interacted with during work regardless of race, color, religious creed, national origin, ancestry, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, genetic information, disability, political affiliation, military service, or diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Pay and Bargaining StatusThis is an exempt position pursuant to the Fair Labor Standards Act based on the executive and administrative exemptions and is paid by salary, issued bi-weekly. This position is excluded from the collective bargaining agreements between the City of Tamarac and the Federation of Public Employees and between the City of Tamarac and the Local 3080, Metro-Broward Professional Fire Fighters, IAFF.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in information technology, management information systems, or a related web technology specialization; supplemented by one (1) year of experience working in professional web development; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.
Required Certifications and LicensesRequired to possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver License and the ability to travel independently from one city location to another or to offsite location/s.
National Incident Management System (NIMS) training is required (and sponsored) within the first six (6) months of employment according to job duties and responsibilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSExperience with relational databases such as Microsoft SQL Server databases.
