Position Purpose
Define, design, and implement major parts of the software architecture for the Digital team in tight collaboration with product management and engineering team members, keeping close contact with CHEP business teams working on digitization of Brambles.
The work performed is on all levels of detail from the review of individual code elements to data model and component design to module integration scenarios, with the intent to build a valuable application that is embedded in the fabric of business applications run by Brambles.

Measures
This position is responsible for researching technologies, analyzing and designing frameworks, and building and maintaining supply chain applications for the digitization of Brambles and as services to improve the supply chains of Brambles' customers.
The success and viability of these applications depends to a large extent on a well-defined modular and layered architecture, with corresponding semantic concepts, especially considering the long lifetime of the systems built and the evolving nature of the requirements.
Major/Key Accountabilities
Develop future-proof technical designs for complex enterprise software
Give technical guidance for specific software development projects while keeping the big picture across projects in mind.
Establish technical priorities and strategies consistent with business goals and economic viability.
Research options and propose software designs that solve immediate needs of the organization while including new and emerging technologies and anticipating future changes.
Successfully delivery of detailed technical designs across multiple integrated technologies and platforms, in accordance with stage gates, milestones, and business objectives: This includes conceptual work, reviews, trouble-shooting, and coding.
Authority/ Decision Making
Decide on technology and assure implementation under time and resource constraintsHelp establish and sustain a wold-class software development teamBe a key player in a matrix environment with complex dependencies within the Digital teamLead by example and be an influencer within and beyond the Digital team (for example with IT)Key contacts
Product Management, Engineering, Data Science, Support, Cloud Operations teams
Brambles Business: Supply chain teams, business strategy team, business analysts in different countries
Help with roll-out of software solutions to customers as well as with clarification of requirements
Establish fruitful relationships to software vendors used by the Digital team
Qualifications
Substantial software development and design expertise with large and complex systems, ideally inn enterprise software and specifically around supply chain management or geographical information systems
Formal:
At least a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Science, Engineering, Statistics or Mathematics
Beyond this baseline, software development experience and proven success is more important than formal education. However, large and complex systems also arise in university research, so a masters or Ph.D can be a plus.
Experience
7+ years of experience in software development - or proven, exceptional software design contributions in previous positionsMust have acquired deep understanding combined with practical real-world experience in different software technologiesHands-on expertise in multiple programming languages such as SQL, JavaScript, Java, Go, and/or Python, ideally across the software stack with Web user interfaces, algorithm development, relational data models and different types of data management technologiesMust have worked on applications that were deployed to customers and helped these go liveExperience technically directing a group of software developers to meet a common goal with successful outcomeSkills and Knowledge
