Job Description
We are seeking a Data Governance Business Analyst to join our team for the Voyager implementation project. This role involves transitioning from an old ERP system to a new one, specifically focusing on importing metadata from the Oracle Business System into the Calibra Data Governance platform. The analyst will assist with understanding and analyzing the imported data, creating visualizations, and ensuring the accurate connection of various data assets. This position is in the Data Governance group within Ascension Data Delivery and Governance.
The Data Governance Business Analyst understands and makes connections between technical systems and business processes and concepts, and assists with importing and connecting metadata assets in the Data Governance platform. This individual will work closely with the data governance team that supports Ascension's ERP transformation initiatives and projects. They will work to understand the business interests and usage of data within each applicable data domain and work with the data governance team to establish a robust metadata repository that illustrates the connections between data in the ERP system and the business processes and concepts. The four groups that are established for the ERP initiative will support Human Resources (HR), Finance, Supply Chain Management (SCM), and Workforce Management (WFM).
Key Responsibilities:• Metadata Import: Assist in importing metadata from Oracle Business System to Calibra Data Governance platform.• Data Analysis: Analyze and understand the imported data, including tables, columns, and other metadata.• Visualization: Create visualizations to show the progress and status of data import and integration. Create and manage visual workflows for their assigned projects, in accordance with the governance framework.• Manual Data Entry: Perform manual data entry tasks as required, ensuring accuracy and completeness.• Collaboration: Work with the business side to define and link business concepts to the imported metadata. Collaborate with the Data Quality team and other teams to manage and resolve identified data quality issues.• Documentation: Document processes and maintain records of data governance activities. Write clear and well-structured business requirements and documentation.• Data Governance Framework: Execute on the established data governance framework with limited direction.• Critical Data Elements: Identify and define critical data elements and business terms, linking them together in the data governance platform (Collibra).• Stewardship Approval Process: Implement stewardship approval process for assigned projects and translate business needs into workflow diagrams for implementation in the data governance platform (Collibra).• Problem Solving: Solve moderately complex data governance problems creatively and within the framework.
Skills:• Clear understanding of the relevant functional area(s), the data being managed, and its implications downstream to other systems, processes, and applications.• Knowledge of the standard business rules for the relevant functional area(s).• Utilization of data as a key capability in current role.• Proficient in basic data concepts (management, modeling, curation/wrangling).• Highly organized, self-motivated, and proactive (takes initiative).• Ability to analyze complex processes into sub-processes.• Excellent oral, verbal, and written communication skills.• Strong meeting facilitation skills as well as presentation skills.• Communicate effectively with diverse people at various organization levels with the right level of detail and cultural sensitivity.• Preferred software experience: Collibra (or similar Data Governance software), Oracle (or similar ERP software), Symedical (or similar Reference Data Management software), SQL.• Proven ability to work in an ambiguous environment; self-motivated to work in an independent and collaborative mode.• Effectively influence a team of individuals without reporting authority to achieve goals and meet deadlines.
Qualifications:• Bachelor's Degree: Preferably in Healthcare, Science, or Technology related major, or other related major, or equivalent work experience.• Advanced Degree: MBA or other related advanced degree preferred.• Experience working in a healthcare environment is preferred.• Experience working in Data Governance preferred.• General knowledge of healthcare operations, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) data management, the interrelationship of systems, and how technology enables business processes preferred.• Basic knowledge of backend database configuration and processes.• Proficient to advanced Google Suite skills (Docs, Sheets, Slides).
