PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Gregory Poole is seeking an Indirect Tax Accountant 1 position to play a key role primarily focused on supporting the Company's Federal, state, and local tax indirect tax reporting requirements. The position will also help maximize the Company's overall financial position by reducing overall indirect tax exposure and developing new processes and procedures that result in increased effectiveness and efficiencies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Sales and Use TaxServe as the liaison between Gregory Poole and external managed returns provider.Coordinate the upload of manually created sales & use tax transactions into external sales tax calculation platform.Reconcile and investigate differences between sales tax automation platform and company accounting software.Review monthly sales tax filings for accuracyPerform monthly sales tax general ledger account reconciliations.Assist with ensuring timely accurate reporting and remittance by external managed returns provider.Assist with customer exemption certificate maintenance as needed.Property Tax
Prepare & timely file property tax returns for each legal entity.Coordinate timely payment of annual property tax bills with Accounts Payable department.Understand Company rental fleet and fixed assets reports and how data should be presented on returns.Reconcile property tax accrual accounts and allocate related expense over the year.Other Taxes
Prepare income tax schedules and other workpapers as requested by tax manager.Perform reconciliation of income tax accounts as requested by tax manager.Reconcile payroll tax accounts working with Payroll and HR as needed.Other Functions
Perform reconciliation of other liability accounts including payroll benefit liabilities, prepaid expenses, and other accounts.Participate in process improvement projects, including developing and improving methods for filing tax returns.Maintain dedicated tax calendars with due dates, registration numbers, filing frequencies, etc. to ensure timely return filings.Assist with indirect tax notices and audits.Assist with indirect tax registrations and business license requirements as required.Serve as an internal tax resource to Gregory Poole employees and external tax resource to Gregory Poole customers.Assist with capital projects approval and maintenance process as needed.Assist operational managers in support of their budgeting financial reporting objectives on an ad hoc basis.Perform other functions and tasks as assigned by managementMINIMUM REQUIRMENTS:
Education and Work Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or related field, with 2 years of experience; orAssociate Degree in Accounting or related field , with a minimum of 4 years of experience.Physical
Ability to sit for long periods of timeAbility to see (regularly or corrective) CRT and small print ledger informationOther
Excellent presentation and communications skills; Detail-oriented and organized; Ability to meet a constant stream of deadlines; Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with different levels of employees; Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
