The senior market editor will take the lead on the brand’s home-design coverage by sourcing the best new products in various categories—furniture, fabrics, tabletop, kitchen & bath, and more—to feature in multiple front-of-book columns within each issue and on elledecor.com. Trade show attendance both in New York City and out of town will be required, as will meetings with manufacturer representatives in and out of the office (and virtually). This editor will help write captions and display copy and will bring a strong visual sense and point of view to both the pages of the magazine and to articles on its website.6–8+ years of experience at a national consumer magazine is essential, with a deep concentration and focus on the home design/shelter category. Above all, creativity and enthusiasm are paramount for this role.Please note: For consideration, please submit your resume in PDF format with a cover letter, salary requirements, and a link to a portfolio or samples of work.Responsibilities:Conduct research for our front-of-book market columns to source the best brands and products to share with our readersProduce FOB columns and take ownership of them from start to finish, which will involve calling in products from manufacturers; setting up and breaking down sets for studio and sometimes on-location photo shoots; and overseeing product returns after these shootsGather crediting information from our vendors and partners for in-book resource listingsWrite both for the print magazine (FOB columns and occasional market features) and for elledecor.com (market news and trend stories, etc.)Attend meetings with industry representatives and attend trade shows to seek out the latest trends and products that we should be coveringQualifications:6-8 years of experience at a national consumer magazinePrior shelter magazine experience is essential, along with a knowledge of and passion for the world of interior designInterest in and experience with styling photo shoots is preferredA strong visual sense and a sense of style—a good eye for what the readers of ELLE DECOR will want to see in our pagesA willingness to learn, and an enthusiasm to roll up your sleeves and help the team!The base salary for this role is between $74,000 and $89,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands.
