As a CNC Machinist, you will play a crucial role in operating CNC milling machines to run production per approved schedules. Job Summary: Performs specialized computer numerical control (CNC) machinist work. Operates CNC milling machines to run production per approved schedules. Works under close supervision with minimal latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Examples of Essential Functions: Set up and operate CNC milling machines, including Mikron, Willeman, and Mori Seiki. Notify the CNC Programmer of problems with equipment and/or tooling that may cause defects or lost time. Recommend process improvements to resolve problems. Fill out proper paperwork per job. Receive process travelers, verify that the components are correct, and close them out. Perform first piece inspection once setup is completed. Check parts according to inspection plans. Verify correct tools against tool sheet and program. Adjust tools to meet blueprint specifications. Adjust machine controls or control media; verify the correct program is running properly. Replace tooling on machines. Set up and operate machines on a trial run to verify accuracy of machine settings or programmed control data. Take corrective action to bring units into specification; place the correct colored tag on units that are out of specification (OOS); report OOS to Quality personnel. Coordinate with Quality department to ensure that units comply with specifications. Comply with and maintain inspection procedure throughout production runs. Ensure work area, machine, tooling, and parts are cleaned regularly and free from excess oil deposits; maintain a clean work area around assigned machines. Maintain good quality and production output. Label parts and send to the next operation in the process. Demonstrate ability to streamline processes to increase productivity and quality; ensure that production and prototype jobs are set up consistently and accurately in a timely manner. Clean and assemble all collet assemblies; remove or replace fixtures, collets, and tools; inspect old collets and guide bushings. Assist fellow machinists, as needed. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; technical certificate preferred. One or more years of experience programming and operating manual or CNC machines in a mid to heavy manufacturing environment; or an equivalent combination of education, certification, training, and/or experience.
