Summary
As a Business Analyst for inventory at DSV, you will be responsible for analyzing inventory operational processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to enhance efficiency and productivity. Your role involves gathering and analyzing data, collaborating with stakeholders, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to support the department's objectives.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesCollect, compile, and analyze data related to inventory operational processes, including workflow, resource utilization, and performance metrics.Develop reports, dashboards, and performance indicators to track key operational metrics and identify trends.Identify opportunities to streamline and optimize operational processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance service quality.Collaborate with departmental managers and stakeholders to implement process improvements and best practices.Work closely with end-users and stakeholders to understand business needs and gather requirements for new systems, tools, or process enhancements.Support the implementation and integration of new systems, tools, or software applications within the operations department.Assist in project planning, coordination, and execution for initiatives related to operational process improvement.Track project milestones, deliverables, and timelines to ensure successful project completion.Communicate with stakeholders at all levels to provide updates on project status, key metrics, and improvement initiatives.Provide training and support to end-users on new systems, tools, or processes implemented within the operations department.Develop training materials, user guides, and documentation to support knowledge transfer and adoption.The inventory functions include, but are not limited to, using a pallet jack, order picker, or scissor lift to accurately locate product and conduct accurate cycle counts. The Business Analyst must generate inventory reports from the WMS and possess intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel for data entry and analytics. The Business Analyst must efficiently and accurately report inventory results in the appropriate areas and utilize data to produce KPI's. All inventory functions will be processed as defined by the Standard Operating Procedures.The quality control functions include, but are not limited to, using the appropriate documentation to ensure that all products and orders are received, handled, and stored correctly. The Business Analyst will verify that products and/or orders meet quality standards, including reporting any damages or discrepancies. All quality control functions will be processed as defined by the Standard Operating Procedures.Business Analyst will comply with all Standard Operating Procedures, corporate and site-specific policies, safety rules, and OSHA/SDS Standards.
Educational background / Work experience
Bachelor's degree in business administration, management information systems, engineering, or a related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) is a plus.Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in business analysis, process improvement, or project management roles, preferably in the transportation and logistics industry or a related field.MHE License - Certified through DSVPreferred Qualifications
6 months experience working in a warehouse/logistics/distribution environment.Current or prior MHE certificationExperience with cycle counting or other inventory control methodsSkills & Competencies
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and derive actionable insights.Proficiency in data analysis tools and other inventory software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, SQL, Power BI).Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.Preferred Qualifications
