Location: Etters, PA
Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. We have design, sales, and manufacturing locations globally and are currently seeking a NPI Development Engineering Manager to join our High Speed IO Connectors team located in Etters, PA.
The NPI Development Engineering Manager will lead the team responsible for managing the introduction of high-speed products, including front IO connectors and OverPass technology. This role involves overseeing development activities related to product extensions on the NPI Development as well as owning product qualification and engineering cost down activities. The manager will coordinate with various departments to ensure smooth transitions from design to manufacturing and maintain adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and mentor a team of NPI Development Engineers focused on high-speed products
Set team goals, monitor performance, and provide regular feedback to team on performance and accomplishments
Foster a collaborative and innovative team environment
Develop and maintain project plans for sustaining design activities, schedules, and budgets
Ensure cross-functional coordination to meet design milestones
Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies to meet customer needs
Review and provide feedback on design changes to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality
Facilitate design reviews and participate in design verification processes
Lead the development and execution of qualification plans for high-speed products
Analyze qualification test data to ensure products meet performance and reliability standards
Address issues identified during qualification with NPI design engineers and Mechanical integrity engineers
Ensure the creation and maintenance of detailed documentation, including work instructions, process flows, and assembly guides
Prepare and present technical reports and project updates to management for NPI product development and qualifications
Oversee the development and execution of test plans for high-speed products during the NPI phase
Ensure thorough analysis of test results and implement necessary changes to improve product performance and reliability
Verify that all high-speed products meet required quality standards before mass production
Identify and implement opportunities for process improvements and cost reductions
Promote lean manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methodologies within the team
Ensure training for production staff on new processes and technologies related to high-speed products
QUALIFICATIONS:
BS/MS Mechanical Engineering with 5 – 10 years of experience
Experience with solid modeling tools - Pro/E and/or SolidWorks
Experience with data analysis software, MS Excel, Minitab would be a plus
Experience developing test plans for mechanical and environmental stresses of high-speed electrical connectors
Ability to analyze test data and ensure product performance and reliability standards are met
Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools desirable, ANSYS experience would be a plus
Knowledge of copper alloys and high-performance engineering thermoplastics would be a plus
Basic understanding of electrical connectors
Ability to communicate with internal and external technical & non-technical stakeholders
Ability to work in team environment
Desire to create and design new products and processes
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong understanding of product qualification and validation processes
