The Senior Programmer role in Application Services entails ongoing planning, problem-solving, and support for all data processing aspects of the Ellucian Higher Education Information Systems. A successful Senior Programmer Analyst will stay current with the Ellucian Banner System through training, research, analysis, and interaction with test systems and end users. This role focuses on gathering requirements from university department and division representatives to develop effective enterprise application solutions. It involves designing, developing, and maintaining applications within the Ellucian Banner System and related integrations, while also contributing to new development and maintenance efforts.Essential Responsibilities and Duties:Maintain technical knowledge of the Ellucian Banner Systems and interfaces to other applications.Collaborate with IT staff and various functional departments to implement end-user solutions by assisting in data interpretation, recommending workflow improvements through current technology, and driving enhancements that benefit the University.Serve as Secondary Banner System Administrator.Provide training, development, and programming/reporting support for functional user areas.Work to maintain high availability of assigned application systems and supporting subsystems, primarily focused on Banner Financial Aid and Student modules.Conduct in-depth analysis and design of systems and applications for assigned projects.Prepare new programs, modify existing ones, and ensure thorough testing by users across all possible scenarios before transitioning to production, while adhering to ITS development and change control standards and policies where applicable.Store, secure, and protect data according to its inherent risks and purposes, aligned with the job scope. Take personal responsibility for proper data handling and promote best practices in others.Participate in Disaster Recovery Team meetings and training as needed and be familiar with the Disaster Recovery Plan.Requirements:Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems (or a related field), or an equivalent combination of training and work experience sufficient to demonstrate proficiency in the described job duties.Analytical skills required.Ability to learn new skills, tools, and technologies through training, hands-on experience, or observation.Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.Proven working knowledge in systems analysis, design, and development, as well as creating and maintaining automated processes, is preferred.Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service, interacting effectively with both internal and external customers, is preferred.Demonstrated proficiency with SQL and Oracle PL/SQL is preferred.Experience in Higher Education and with the Ellucian Banner System is preferred, particularly with a focus on the Student and Financial Aid modules.Basic Linux skills are preferred, including SSH, SFTP, finding and listing files and permissions, and navigating directories.Additional Information:This position is a full-time, classified, exempt position in a pay band 5. A successful fingerprint-based criminal background investigation is required. The selected candidate must complete a Statement of Economic Interests.
