Description:
• Performs entry-level tasks to support the movement, storage, and packaging of inventory. A typical workday may include: • Pulling orders and preparing orders for shipment • Using an RF scanner to pick orders • Packing orders into boxes for shipping • Other duties of a material handler include: • Loading and unloading different transport items • Recording inventory statuses • Ensuring deliveries properly match purchase orders • Maintaining inventory by identifying, labeling, and keeping materials and supplies in stock • Recording location of inventory • Reporting shortages • Pulling orders from inventory • Delivering production materials and supplies where needed • Staging finished product final distribution • Material handlers are an important component of the warehousing industry, and their duties include handling and moving merchandise around the premises. They may also manage the shipping and receiving of materials within a facility. • Material handlers use hand trucks, electric fork jacks, and forklifts to move product.
