Hunters Ambulance Service is seeking a motivated, skilled, and resourceful individual to join our Dispatch team as a
Telecommunicator / Call Receiver
in Meriden, CT. This person will accept, assess and direct non-emergency, emergency and requests for service calls, deploy appropriate resources in a timely and efficient manner and also provides Emergency Medical Dispatch instructions for all emergency calls.
The ideal candidate for this position is a critical thinker with excellent organizational and communication skills who possesses a strong customer-centered work ethic and attention to detail.
Key responsibilities and requirements include, but are not limited, to:MUST have 24/7 open availability to work shifts on days, nights, weekend and holidays. You will NOT be scheduled for 24/7 shifts.Employs computer data entry skills to process information.Communicates effectively utilizing phone, radio and other telecommunications devices.Coordinates emergency requests with other agencies.Provides Emergency Medical Dispatch Instructions to emergency calls.Facilitates communications of vehicles, equipment and service requests.Responsible for relay of pertinent information via phone and radio to crews.Responsible for bookings, non-emergency dispatch during "off hours".Must Maintain International Academies of Emergency Medical Dispatch certification.Attends Continuing Dispatch Education.Utilizes caller integration skills to obtain accurate information.
Do you meet the Preferred Qualifications?
High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.State of Connecticut Telecommunications Certification (Must be obtained within one year of employment)Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification. (preferred)Outstanding written and verbal communication skillsAbility to handle confidential informationAbility to work in a fast paced environment, with changing prioritiesMust be self-motivated and have the ability to exercise initiative and work independentlyAttention to detail is requiredAbility to multi-task on a variety of tasks and assignmentsExcellent follow up and follow-through capabilitiesSuperior computer skills in Microsoft Office including Microsoft Outlook PowerPoint, Word, and ExcelTeam oriented perspective, able to work well and contribute with others
